This morning, the Senate meets at 9:30 for a cloture vote on the Patriot Act Reauthorization Bill. Dems have vowed to filabuster it, ( though it's not clear if all will support the filabuster) joined by 4 Republicans. Should be fireworks on the floor..President Bush yesterday firmly called upon the Senate to support the Patriot Act, and many Republicans can't believe the Dems would be stupid enough to do this. So follow along...

Maybe there should be a vote to eliminate the Senates Christmas Break based on national security reasons and make them debate for the next two weeks.

They know what's at stake but the Rats are playing politics with American lives. That's citing the obvious. McCain is justifying the nonsense some FReepers were expressing about being searched at airports. They bought into the media spin.

I don't care who has the better arguement...I want my family safe. We all want that. And by "has the better argument," I meant to include the notion of the effects of this vote; not just the rhtorical skill with which each side advocated its position.

I'm not watching, haven't been all morning. I'm mad enough as it is after reading this hitpiece disguised as some breaking news article from the belly of the beast within the DNC.

The void left by this vote isn't a risk to national security, in my opinion. How come?
Because, in my opinion, "the gap" in investigative power is not sufficient to make the difference between stopping and not stopping a terrorist act.
Just my opinion. I have no intention of justifying it or arguing it, or trying to persuade anybody to agree with my opinion.

But that is Bull
This part of the patriot act is needed to help in stopping the terrorist
My only fear is if a Hellary Clinton should get in the WH .. it will be abused by the likes of her

Okay. That tells me what I need to know :) If you mean my opinion is unworthy, because I won't defend it, then I say to you, "Likewise!" The exchanges on FR aren't substantive or detailed, on either side. I formed my opinion from study independent of FR posts.

Chill. I just meant I'm keeping an open mind and am willing to listen. But not if you're unwilling to reciprocate. It's takes two, dude. And if you don't want to back up what you're saying, I'm not gonna give it any weight.

The Clintons weren't deterred during their previous 2 terms, so why think that anything would deter Hillary, if she gets to occupy the Oval Office? If that happens, she will make up rules to suit her needs at the time, regardless. They did. They will.
