"...Death by beeber..."

Now that's a fate worse than death.

"...Looks like it's all over, except for the riots...."

Unlike the Rodney King caused riots, don't expect/make the taxpayers of L.A. pay for the rebuilding. Make the thugs that would participate in the "festivities" pay for and rebuild it. Certainly they have enough stolen money to foot the bill. They broke it, they can fix it.

How we Americans contradict ourselves. We claim to desire rehabilitation for criminals, but when faced with a chance to back that claim up, we just can't bring ourselves to do it. The (good) things that Williams has done since he was incarcerated should be examined, lauded, held up as proof that prison and rehabilitation can work. Instead our lust for blood is so strong that we aren't willing to allow him to live and continue those good things, even though he would be incarcerated til he dies.

It's pathetic, distasteful, and most of all, hypocritical. We had a chance and we lost it. Yet again.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

If there is a riot then I guess Tookie's little book didn't teach anyone anything. It will just make me laugh louder.

Sounds like you wouldn't mind a little rioting if it served your point, huh?

If Jesse or FaraCON wants to incite some riots, let them underwrite the repairs with funds from the extortion rings, uh, organizations.

Sorry to say this, Cathryn, but I'll respectfully say that I think you are being both unfair and naive here.

If he were redeemed he would have admitted what he did and asked for the family's forgiveness. He has not.

He would have helped the police solve some of the Crips's murders about which he has knowledge. He has not.

His "redemption" is a total scam. He is putting on a show in an effort to first get clemency, then a new trial, and then freedom. It is a total PR effort that was very well crafted.

While he was on trial, he was planning a breakout in which he would kill a witness, two guards, and blow up a bus.

This is not a man who has been redeemed. This is a man who has fooled people who want to be fooled because they are against the death penalty.

Sorry, bleeding heart...the first step in rehabilitation is the ADMISSION OF GUILT!

Also there's that pesky little Gang Culture, that Tookie could have helped the Police/FBI crack down on and end...gee, just don't see any remorse from Tookie and his cohorts. I guess getting a publishing contract was easier...a couple of kid's stories EASILY makes up for some Asian lives, huh?

Then we have the expected Riots due to a CONVICED MURDERING GANG THUG being legally executed....I don't think it's gonna be Whitey outta Malibu that's gonna be doing the "Rodney King redux"...

So cry me a river about "rehabilitation"...the recitivism rates alone ruin your liberal argument, and make a fool out of you! You may choose to live on your knees, do not berate me for standing on my feet and fighting what you refuse to face...the true nature of evil.

Amen, Doug.

Additionally, it's not "fair" to let guilty people escape the consequences of their actions.

And if "feelings" are so important, then what about the "feelings" of the victims and their families?

I'm so tired of the advocacy for murderers in this country. It's evil.

Gee, I was a little nicer to her.

Yes, doug...you were.

I, on the other hand, have had a group of ultra-liberal friends from NYC for years, and I have had to endure this smarmy, self-important garbage from the supposed "enlightened" class until I said enough and fought back.

We are in the beginning stages of WWIII or IV (depending on your viewpoint), and these namby-pamby hand-wringing self-loathing guilty libs are only aiding our enemies...and I have no time or patience or "tolerance" anymore for their guilt-trip crap.

I will no longer sugar-coat my loathing for their ideas and what they profess to believe in...it's useless. They are a danger to the very fabric of American society, and left to their own they destroy everything they touch (Look to California and each Major City for proof!)!

We cannot afford the extra effort anymore to pull the "Francis the Mules" along...the smart ones have wised up, the rest will never be able to believe differently from their indoctrination. They will bear their own chains, they will not drag me down with them!

Who said we desire rehabilitation? I believe most of us desire an eye for an eye.

He murdered 4 people. That is what is pathetic. What you consider a "lust for blood" I consider justice. Any money available for rehabilitation should be reserved for the non violent.

Yes. Rehabilitation should be reserved for the non violent and early removal should be reserved for the violent and / or habitual offenders. Tookie should be happy that he can show kids that crime does not pay. He should also be happy to make room in the prison system for someone else that might be turned lose too early.

I'm not saying he can't grant clemency; I'm saying he technically doesn't have to do anything, if he doesn't want to. He doesn't have to intervene if he so chooses. He can just sit by and do nothing and the murderer will be executed.

So Arnold has to decide whether to do nothing or whether to grant clemency. It's still a decision.

He could take it as an opportunity to make a good pro-death penalty speach. That is what I would do.

Take a look at the Save Tookie site. It actually says, "Arnold - do the right thing for the children!" right across the top of the page.

For the children???? Are they kidding???

I think Arnold will cave out of the fear of riots.

He will have cowered under blackmail and will be guaranteed to recieve more of the same.

Karla Faye Tucker had twice the guts of this big man, she knew she had to pay for what she did and faced it with courage.
And she probably really was rehabilitated.

Cathryn,
Stanley Williams had a chance, and HE lost it. He had every opportunity in the world to NOT shoot those 4 people. Instead, he chose to murder them at point blank range.

Even if this animal, saved the whales, the rain forest, and plugged the hole in the ozone layer, he is still required to pay for the deeds he has done. There are consequences for our actions.

It would not matter if he fed the poor, healed the sick, and lowered taxes, he still has to pay.

This is about responsibility Catheryn. Stanley Williams is responsible for killing 4 innocent people. If he clubbed 4 baby seals would you (and the other Hollywood types) be so much in favor of his clemency?

Sack-up babe.
