How we Americans contradict ourselves. We claim to desire rehabilitation for criminals, but when faced with a chance to back that claim up, we just can't bring ourselves to do it. The (good) things that Williams has done since he was incarcerated should be examined, lauded, held up as proof that prison and rehabilitation can work. Instead our lust for blood is so strong that we aren't willing to allow him to live and continue those good things, even though he would be incarcerated til he dies.

It's pathetic, distasteful, and most of all, hypocritical. We had a chance and we lost it. Yet again.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Sorry to say this, Cathryn, but I'll respectfully say that I think you are being both unfair and naive here.

If he were redeemed he would have admitted what he did and asked for the family's forgiveness. He has not.

He would have helped the police solve some of the Crips's murders about which he has knowledge. He has not.

His "redemption" is a total scam. He is putting on a show in an effort to first get clemency, then a new trial, and then freedom. It is a total PR effort that was very well crafted.

While he was on trial, he was planning a breakout in which he would kill a witness, two guards, and blow up a bus.

This is not a man who has been redeemed. This is a man who has fooled people who want to be fooled because they are against the death penalty.

Sorry, bleeding heart...the first step in rehabilitation is the ADMISSION OF GUILT!

Also there's that pesky little Gang Culture, that Tookie could have helped the Police/FBI crack down on and end...gee, just don't see any remorse from Tookie and his cohorts. I guess getting a publishing contract was easier...a couple of kid's stories EASILY makes up for some Asian lives, huh?

Then we have the expected Riots due to a CONVICED MURDERING GANG THUG being legally executed....I don't think it's gonna be Whitey outta Malibu that's gonna be doing the "Rodney King redux"...

So cry me a river about "rehabilitation"...the recitivism rates alone ruin your liberal argument, and make a fool out of you! You may choose to live on your knees, do not berate me for standing on my feet and fighting what you refuse to face...the true nature of evil.

Who said we desire rehabilitation? I believe most of us desire an eye for an eye.

He murdered 4 people. That is what is pathetic. What you consider a "lust for blood" I consider justice. Any money available for rehabilitation should be reserved for the non violent.

Cathryn,
Stanley Williams had a chance, and HE lost it. He had every opportunity in the world to NOT shoot those 4 people. Instead, he chose to murder them at point blank range.

Even if this animal, saved the whales, the rain forest, and plugged the hole in the ozone layer, he is still required to pay for the deeds he has done. There are consequences for our actions.

It would not matter if he fed the poor, healed the sick, and lowered taxes, he still has to pay.

This is about responsibility Catheryn. Stanley Williams is responsible for killing 4 innocent people. If he clubbed 4 baby seals would you (and the other Hollywood types) be so much in favor of his clemency?

Sack-up babe.
