Today, Senator Daniel Inouye, the Ranking Member of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee and a recipient of the Medal of Honor for his service in World War II, released the following statement:
"As a Veteran of World War II, I know what its like to fight a war and put your life on the line every day. I also know what it takes to win a war, and I know that politics and an attack machine like the Presidents plays no part in it.
"The Republican Partys latest ad is a shameful and disgusting attempt to distract the American people from the problems in Iraq. It may improve the Presidents political fortunes, but the American people and our troops will pay the price. I hope that President Bush realizes how shameful it is to play politics when what we really need is leadership, and that he will direct his Party to take down this ad immediately."

He earned the MOH honorably. We should not critizice him for that. To do so would be dishonorably.
To fight for his party against the politicizing of the war is also honorable.
The only question I have is why is he not prominent in defending our troop's honor? Then again, maybe I missed it.
I too am surprised he has not retired.
The ad must be working...the DIM playbook calls for them to trot out Inouye with his Medal of Honor when they get into trouble on national defense...this is pretty deep in their playbook, so the focus group testing and overnight polling of the GOP ad must be pretty bad for them...watch the MSM avoid this ad and focus on the prospect for Iraqi civil war after next week elections, the "bad" Bush economy, Kyoto/global warming or other bash-Bush issues on the Sunday shows...
Surprise, surprise!!!!!
Sen. Kerry said that our troops were "terrorizing" Iraqi kids. Isn't Sen. Kerry the Presidential candidate who bragged about the metal he earned for shooting a fleeing 16 year old vietanmise kid in the back.
What was Sen. Daniel Inouye saying after Kerry called our troops terrorist?
Doesn't mean he didn't earn it.
I don't question his honor.
He probably bought it at the base exchange.
How about telling your OWN party chairman to quit saying we "can't win" the war, your fellow Congress critter Murtha to quit saying the U.S. Army is living "hand to mouth" and your LAST DEMOCRAT NOMINEE FOR PRESIDENT TO QUIT CALLING AMERICAN SOLDIERS TERRORISTS!!!
Those slimebags, not President Bush, are the ones politicizing the war!!
Well good, than you should tell the rest of your party of losers what it takes so that they will shut their stupid traps and let our troops win.
EXCELLENT COME BACK!!!
"Doesn't mean he didn't earn it. I don't question his honor."
I'm not questioning his WWII service either. The timing is a little surprising, that's all.
Yep, he earned it all right!
DANIEL K. INOUYE
Second Lieutenant Daniel K. Inouye distinguished himself by extraordinary heroism in action on 21 April 1945, in the vicinity of San Terenzo, Italy. While attacking a defended ridge guarding an important road junction, Second Lieutenant Inouye skillfully directed his platoon through a hail of automatic weapon and small arms fire, in a swift enveloping movement that resulted in the capture of an artillery and mortar post and brought his men to within 40 yards of the hostile force. Emplaced in bunkers and rock formations, the enemy halted the advance with crossfire from three machine guns. With complete disregard for his personal safety, Second Lieutenant Inouye crawled up the treacherous slope to within five yards of the nearest machine gun and hurled two grenades, destroying the emplacement. Before the enemy could retaliate, he stood up and neutralized a second machine gun nest. Although wounded by a snipers bullet, he continued to engage other hostile positions at close range until an exploding grenade shattered his right arm. Despite the intense pain, he refused evacuation and continued to direct his platoon until enemy resistance was broken and his men were again deployed in defensive positions. In the attack, 25 enemy soldiers were killed and eight others captured. By his gallant, aggressive tactics and by his indomitable leadership, Second Lieutenant Inouye enabled his platoon to advance through formidable resistance, and was instrumental in the capture of the ridge. Second Lieutenant Inouyes extraordinary heroism and devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit on him, his unit, and the United States Army.
Hooaah!
You can criticize his politics all you want, but don't criticize his service. I wouldn't want anyone doing that to my son!
Timing is that he is against the war in Iraq and the Dems are using him for political purposes (like Murtha). Shouldn't be surprising, except he really should be retired by now.
The Dems ALWAYS get their message out. And as long as MSM owns the media, that will continue.
I'm just posting the source for that paragraph:

Why don't the democrats just pass a law that says if any democrat who served in Vietnam expresses an opinion on a national security issue then no republicans are permitted to respond. It's quite clear that that's what they believe. These guys are pathetic. Memo to the libs: the first amendment applies to EVERYONE. no just leftists!
Thanks!
