We will not be playing all the artists and versions that we have. We don't have the space, but we feel you'll get enough variations to enjoy yourself. Background Information: The Englishman, John Francis Wade, wrote both the words and the music, Adeste Fideles. The Musical score was first published in 1782 in Samuel Webbe's An Essay on the Church Plain Chant in 1782. John Francis Wade first included it in his own 1751 publication of Cantus Diversi. The lyrics were first published in 1760. If you hear someone using tissues, it's MoJo. This song has watery effects. To our British and Aussie allies, MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Background Info: Joy to the World The words and lyrics of the old Christmas carol 'Joy to the World' were written in 1719 by Isaac Watts (1674-1748). The father of John Watts was a Non-conformist and so extreme were his views that he was imprisoned twice. His father's influence over Isaac was demonstrated when he choose to attend Nonconformist Academy at Stoke Newington in preference to a University. Watts was ordained as a Pastor of an Independent congregation. He wrote many hymns and Carols and was awarded a Doctor of Divinity degree by the the University of Edinburgh in 1728. The music to the carol is by George Frederick Handel (1685-1759). MoJo Thought: Have you ever noticed while reading articles that when referring to GOD that many folks decide to write it *G-D*? What is that? Is it supposed to mean that it is less potent and offensive by keeping the *o* from appearing? My suggestion to these folks isn't to use God at all. If you can't add the *o*, don't write it. This is true for those of you that believe or don't.

Greetings, FReepers, Troops,
and All the Ships at Sea!
Reporting in Drive-by Mode from the Fobbit Hole in the rich bottom lands of the Euphrates River Valley, its the continuing saga of Sarge's Most Excellent Adventure! It's been a hectic start to the day for The Kids of The Company, as bugs keep hitting the windshield of life over here.
Let's all start the day by thanking the Canteen Deejays, for a fantastic selection of tunes for the upcoming holiday fun. Sarge is especially glad to hear all the spirit-lifting songs of classic days gone by, and the voices of the boys' choirs that someone has shared with us all. It's wonderful to hear!
Now, just as a heads-up, Sarge has got something planned for tonight - his tonight, anyway - and the trusty Sarge-cam will be there to bring some highlights. Give the old boy some time, and the pics will be on display for all to see.
I'll give two FReepers a hint: WAKEUPANDVOTE and SKYRAIDER: PHILMONT!
Sarge will be in the area later today, so Y'all Have Fun!
OLD SARGE
DISCLAIMER: If you wish to be on/off Sarge's Daily Report, FReepmail with details!

Ok, I'm new to the Canteen, and to the Free Republic.
Kiwi by choice, British and Canadian by birth. A patriot of all three Nations, and a friend to America.
May God Bless our troops overseas, keep 'em safe and warm and return 'em to their families alive and whole and happy, once this ugly business in Iraq is over. By definition they are in Harm's Way so it's no good asking Him to keep 'em safe from Harm. Theirs is an unsafe job fraught with peril.
We live our safe lives in our comfortable homes because our Troops choose to serve unselfishly.
I thank all in Uniform. You are the best of the best, the finest that our Nation can offer. And I for one am Grateful for your service.
