"---I am afraid that the Conservative Movement has simply become so PR inept----"

Very true - except I would not be so polite!!! President Bush is and has been out there making great speeches or just speaking to crowds - which I like the best - they may be covered for a few minutes then flash back to station and the "girls" tell us what he said - same the with press briefings. If anything is carried fully it is C-SPAN and at odd times.

I don't check President Bush's web site to see if his speeches are in transcript - if they aren't they should be and we, FreeRepublic, should be the messenger. Post them in every article we read all day long.

I was so disgusted with Wallace this am, for the first time since 9/11 I turned off Sunday morning TV.

But not before I heard Brit Hume say -- we are fighting two wars - one in Iraq and one here at home.

That is unforgivable. Our MSM and our elected officials are killing our men and women in Iraq and elsewhere with their agenda. And Chris Wallace gave them more power by questioning Hadley. Making Hadley defend the President's words - should be the other way around. No wonder (if) we have to pay to have the truth printed in the Iraqi papers!!!

You'll be comforted to know they"support the troops".."

Ask them next time you go dumpster diving: How many letters have they sent to soldiers? How many packages have they sent? How many simple messages of thanks? Point out to them is "Support the troops" is a lifestyle, not a slogan and we KNOW how little the Hate America Firsts actually support the troops.

That is very strange you talking about the candy cane I was shopping in Wilkinson's in Ashford a sort of small KMart type store. It had boxes of candy cane and this lady in front of me was explaining to her daughter about the symbolism of candy cane.

In fact I cannot remember it being sold before in England it probably has but I cannot remember it. All I remember from childhood is very large candy canes of what we call rock in seaside sweet shops.

The left likes to encourage the idea that big oil interests prompted Bush to force this war

I love to point out to them if that was the case we would of invaded the another failed state with a mentally unbalanced Dictator instead of liberating Iraq.

We would of invaded Valenzuela from whom we get like 6 times as much oil as ALL of the Mid East. Chavez would be the one on trial now if it was "all about Oil".

I thought you were joining txsleuth and EC in the early downing of suds. I listened to Timmy on KSKY and waiting for McLame. Come to find out it was a show from 2 weeks ago.

Carry on.

The problem is...we conservatives expect better from our congresscritters than to just repeat talking points..

we prefer our politicians to be able to make up their own minds..and speak their own thoughts...

Therefore, we will never have the same "equality" of staying on message as the dems, I am afraid.

Of course, Jeff Sessions has never let me down..so if more of the GOP Senators would just copy him, I would be cool with that.

All good points. From my perspective, I thought there was an easier explanation. There are three classes of identified opposition groups. The Sunni group, but these are diminishing as they are brought into the political process. There is the Baathist or pro-Saddam group, who are being marginalized but may never be happy with their loss of power. Then there is the terrorist, outside agitator group who are increasing numbers as they are trying to overturn the current democratic trend in Iraq. This last group, which includes Iran and Syrian terrorists, are being marginalized as more Iraqi citizens are rejecting them and helping authorities find them and eliminate them.

The words "last throes" mean just that, but there is no specific timetable for this to happen any more than there is a date certain where we can say we are leaving Iraq on that date. There are just too many variables.

In truth, the "war" in Iraq is over and it certainly has been "mission accomplished." Now, we're in a rebuilding phase and it will have bumps and struggles as we help the Iraqis work through it to the end when Iraq is in a position to defend herself from both internal and external threats.

We can also anticipate having a presense in Iraq for many years. We will be needed in the region as a stabilizing force to offset other nations hostilities inside and outside of the Arab world, and to help fight terrorists in the area. It remains in our best interest to fight extreme Islamists in their back yard as opposed to our own

Thank you, I started reading around 400 or so, was hanging around the McLame thread. Not much support for him over there.

I didn't really expect there to be. Good luck at getting 1500 today. I know you can do it.
