This is the same problem Republicans have in getting the truth out to the public as it's being supressed by a biased press and agressive opposition party. At some point buying the space becomes necessary.
Move-on ran a Thanksgiving day anti-victory ad....it had a young American mom crying at the dinner table. Lot's of wrong and misleading war statistics read....but then they put in a frame of "our soldiers" standing in line for food......
only problem snugs, is that they were your guys, our allies, not US soldiers in the ad---it took about three seconds for the pajama brigade to note that the cammys were Brit---not US and to slam move-on for being such strong supporters of our troops that they don't even recognize them.
the most hysterical comments came due to the fact that one of your guys was wearing shorts, clothing not issued by the US military---he had very nice legs too, if grandma can put in an aside :)
Russert is an idiot and McCain is a fool.
Our 'kids' do not come out of boot camp ready to fight. They still have a hard year (at least) of intermediate and advanced infantry training, or armor, or artillery, etc, depending on specialty.
Our army has experienced NCO's, Senior NCO's and officers who in total add thousands of years of direct combat experience into the training, combat management and life saving skills that our young soldiers need.
Ignoring that shows a complete misunderstanding about how a military works and completely illustrates why journalists simply cannot fathom why our military is really the best in the world.
Earth to Tim: It's the people!!!! The US military is perfection on Earth due to the hard work of career soldiers who have more concern for the United States in their little fingers than a whole host of fat, biased, hunched-over-frowning-grilling-Republican journalists have in their fat, bloated bodies.
McCain is just a dumb a$$ dufus who, if he thought about what a slanderous thing Russert is saying about our military, would castigate him then and there, but is so eager to blame Rumsfeld, missed his change to prove he learned something as an officer in the Navy.
IMHO it is all down to interpretation and also I suspect the Telepgraph is using it as an attack on Blair.
That is one of the loveliest comments I have ever read here on FR.
I would put it 12 months max.
I hope you get to watch a winning game. The only way to get tickets in the 80's was to inherit them.
What we need is another FOXNews... not just fair & balanced... but a conservative answer to the rest of the MSM/DNC networks!
If I really want to wind them up, I say: "But on a cheerier note, we just executed our 1,000th Criminal.
Most excellent!
Bwahahahaha....
Did anyone else catch Chrissy's show? On a leadout to commercial Chrissy was promoting the next segment titled "the lonely hawk".
Anyway Chrissy voiceovers "Does the President know something about Iraq that we don't know, or do we know something that he doesn't?" and the clip in the background showed some 'protest' ralley with several signs that read "FREE SADAAM".... ROTFL... making themselves look like arses even on their own shows.
Well how about that!
NO question the Democrats will claim victory when we start bringing troops home. They have been wrong on everything else and this is their new strategy. It's too easy to forget that bringing our troops home has been the official position this whole time.
"Timmy asks if that isn't the President's fault"
chil, that's nbc's #1 talking point. see Katie query:
"how much is this going to hurt the president?"
and then watch Matt probe:
"will the president be able to recover from this?"
Makes sense.
Blair gets more crap than GWB.
Makes more sense so doubly the Telegraph is using this to criticize the government and their handling of the war. They probably are not currently for the Iraq conflict based on no WMD anyway but will also rejoice in criticizing Blair and Co.
