As a self-employed small business owner who can't find affordable health insurance, your comment - certainly accurate - raises my blood pressure. And that's gonna make my monthly payments cost even more!
You also pay for it in hospital expenses.
In many states, the law requires all hospitals to provide medical care to indigent patients. Illegal aliens work at minimum or below minimum wage jobs. They get no medical coverage.
When they get sick they show up in the hospital emergency room - even for disorders the average person goes to a personal doctor for.
The hospitals are forced to cover the mandated expense of their treatment by increasing costs to paying customers. This raises your medical insurance rates. Plus, if you have a real serious problem, you have to wait while some illegal is being treated for something he should have seen a practising physician for.
So we, the taxpayers are subsidizing the medical treatment for these people while their employers get fat and rich.
This is an outrageous exploitation of the American public.
In some hosiptals, the number of children born to illegal aliens exceeds the number born to American citizens and resident legal aliens.
Bush's treatment of this entire problem borders on the criminal.
