TRY AGAIN, MR. PRESIDENT -- THOSE WERE EMPTY WORDS [The Presidnet's Amnesty Program]
Neal Boortz ^ | Nov. 29, 2005 | Neal Boortz

Posted on 11/29/2005 5:25:04 AM PST by conservativecorner

Yesterday, George W. Bush strode to a podium in Tucson, Arizona (I love Tucson!) and against a backdrop of law enforcement officers, announced his latest plan to crack down on illegal aliens. There was nothing in his speech we haven't heard before, and his new immigration policy is just as contradictory as the old one. Among the initiatives announced:

We should build more jail cells to hold illegal aliens. Good idea. The speeding up of deportations, a crackdown on fraudulent identity papers, and a hardening of the border with more surveillance. So far, so good. Then the nonsense started to flow. The president urged Congress to pass his guest-worker amnesty program and repeated the nonsense that the illegal aliens are here "to fill jobs that Americans will not do."

Same old, same old. It is impossible to stand there and say you're going to crack down on illegal immigration while at the same time say that you are going to reward people who broke our immigration laws. The president says it's not amnesty. Ok, now we've finally caught the president in a lie. OF COURSE it's amnesty! When you tell someone who has broken the law that you are not only going to ignore their illegal conduct, but you are actually going to reward them for it, then you have more than plain old garden variety amnesty, you have amnesty with perks!

As for the oft-repeated line that the illegal aliens fill jobs Americans won't, that's also a load. Companies may not be able to fill those jobs with Americans at the same low wages they pay Mexicans, but there are plenty of people in this country that would do the work at the right price. OK .. so the price of headless chickens, landscaping and construction might go up, but at least the people receiving those paychecks would be law-abiding residents of this country, most of whom would be citizens. There is something wrong with the idea of celebrating lower home prices when those lower prices are brought with disrespect for the laws of our country. It gets worse than that. We are threatening our very security by singing the praises of illegal aliens in our workforce. Just two weeks ago we were interviewing a Texas congressman who was telling us that U.S. intelligence agencies have knowledge that Al Qaeda terrorists have moved to Mexico, adopted Hispanic identities, learned the Spanish language, and then moved right into the United States across our porous borders.

George Bush failed to address the problem appropriately yesterday, but this isn't strictly a George Bush issue. There is absolutely no willingness on the part of either political party to crack down on illegal immigration. There are simply too many votes to be had in the Hispanic community. So as a result, our security as a nation is threatened and our cities and states are overrun with illegal aliens.

I'm sure representatives of Al-Qaeda are preparing to apply for their guest-worker permits as we speak.

What part of illegal do you not understand? Also dane like it or not the path for many in this country for many years into the middle class was through the factory doors. If you close that with low wages from illegals how long do you think they will vote republican? Also how long until you taxes go up. Factory workers and union meat cutters pay a good amount in taxes, walmart greeters don't.

Huh trying to cover for the slimeballs(trial lawyers). Hope you get a good kickback.

You obviously didn't read the post or you simply refuse to discuss the real issues contained therein. Your misdirection will not work. You seem to blame everything else except for the criminal invaders for the problems that the criminal invaders are causing. You see a giant steaming pile of elephant crap in the middle of the carpet and point at everyone else instead of the elephant in the room. You're either being purposely obtuse or you are a moron. I vote for the latter as I've had several years dealing with you on Free Republic and your reputation here is well demonstrated.

Illegal Aliens cost taxpayers $69 Billion annually (just in social services) in federal programs in 2002. Studies estimate that amnesty would increase that three fold.

Perhaps as high as 80% of the violent crime in Phoenix area involves illegal aliens (according to Phoenix Chief Hurt and Mesa police violent crimes response team)

Over 4000 homicide warrants issued by the border states to suspects who are believed to have fled south of the border into Mexico.

$311 Billion in uncollected taxes (Barron's study).

$200 Billion annually in-lost American wages. Native-born American men lost an average of

$1700 in wages in 2000 due to US immigration policy (Harvard University).

Maricopa County Hospital loses over $2 million weekly on uncompensated care (largely do to illegal aliens) (2003, 77 border hospitals filed for bankruptcy).

1/3 of our federal prisons are illegal aliens, over 5000 illegal aliens in our State Prison.

Arizona spends over $800 million to over $1 billion (K –12) annually to educate illegals.

Over half of AHCCCS births are from illegal mothers 1/3 of children in Arizona have immigrant parents.

Yep those factory doors closed when the unions killed the "Golden Goose".

Don't blame me for union crony greed.

Actually it was the term "union mentality", which is a synonym of the word "irony".

So, are today's assigned talking points the trial lawyer thing or the union thing? Maybe you need to check the email from your bosses, I think you were supposed to stick with the stupid trial lawyer thing and wait until tomorrow for the idiotic union thing. Obviously, the "demonization of business" and those who grow and produce thing didn't work out well yesterday. I'm surprised that they gave you such crappy talking points today.

Please don't confuse Dane with the truth. Anything outside her assigned talking points throws her off her game.

How come nobody discusses the contra perspective, which is why don't we just annex Mexico? This is probably the long-term play - the US will be 25% Hispanic within a few generations, and they will have the political muscle to pull it off.

If Hispanic-Americans are like every previous immigrant group, they won't want their own Aztlan. The dream is to visit the homeland as a big-time success; what better way to achieve payback against the corrupt Mexican government than by taking it over?

A Mexico operated under US rule-of-law that protects capital investment would make the Louisiana Purchase look like peanuts. Instead of Wal-Marts being built by Mexicans in Pennsylvania, there would be Wal-Marts being built by Mexicans in Baja - with millions of Americans grabbing their slice of virgin Pacific coast for a fraction of what it costs in Calif.

Oh...is that what it's called that Dane's doing? : )

"By default, we grant health passes to illegal aliens. Yet many illegal aliens harbor fatal diseases that American medicine fought and vanquished long ago, such as drug-resistant tuberculosis, malaria, leprosy, plague, polio, dengue, and Chagas disease."

“What is unseen is their [illegal aliens’] free medical care that has degraded and closed some of America’s finest emergency medical facilities, and caused hospital bankruptcies: 84 California hospitals are closing their doors.”

Poor Dane, you must be surrounded by union thugs, slime ball lawyers, and socialist Democratic sympathizers. I can almost understand why you would want to flush the US population and replace the whole with illegal foreign nationals. You know there are drugs available to treat those sorts of disorders; medicines which will ease the feeling of persecution. Perhaps you should seek medical help.

Yuh know denny, I worked through the "union system"(the workplace was union, but it was a "right to work state" and I didn't give union extortion dues)) and worked my butt off but was denied advancement because I did work my butt off and made the other guys look "bad".

So shove your flowery union rhetoric.

Well, when you take the side of the illegal immigrants you should expect to be flamed. Look at the poll.

Did I say I took the side of illegals ??

Nope .. I don't recall doing that

You make a good point that the State programs thwart any federal effort. However, I was truly disappointed that the current Bush initiative was a hollow rehash of previously proposed lousy-goosy concepts.

I truly understand that the job of President is functionary in legislative issues except for the fact that it serves as a pulpit for leadership. I am seeing none from anywhere but the back benchers in Congress looking for an issue.
