>>>>Four historians are the guests, and each is doing his best to describe our nation in terms that make the President look terrible without using one sentence that charges him with a single tangible fact.

Remember, for those on the left, its not the nature of the evidence which counts most, its the seriousness of the charge. And this mornings MTP was another all out effort by Timmy Russert's merry band of doom and gloom journalists to paint a picture of a failed Presidency and a lost war in Iraq.

Also, John Warner needs to retire. Outside of his closing jab at Biden's presidential trial balloon, Warner's performance on MTP today was an embarassment. Where were the voices of reason from the Bush administration? Nowhere to be heard. While the President is doing a remarkable job prosecuting the WOT in Iraq, Bush&Company are still doing a lousy job of confronting their enemies here at home. What are they waiting for? Bush has the Bully Pulpit, don't let up!

I was thinking about this after the disappointing performances by Lugar and, last week, Roberts. Miss Marple has indicated that guests must be invited, so naturally they invite the weakest Republicans in the bunch (although George Allen has made several appearances and, on the whole, aquitted himself pretty well). Could not the Republicans put out a list of some of the party with some backbone and ability and say that, if you want someone from our side you must choose from this list or go without. Would that be more dangerous than what we have seen if they chose to go without? I don't think they could refuse the offer and keep up the pretense of balance.

The lie told often enough... true.

One problem I've had with the Republicans for decades, is that the right does not counter the left's propaganda. The left devises talking points and hits on them relentlessly en mass, everyone on the same page.

The right seems to develop a plan in a room with five people in it, then keep it a secret. Then one or two of them will make substantial statements thinking that was enough. Wrong!!!

The right would do well to sit down and study what the left does, with regard to propaganda. Then they should develop the same tactics using truth instead of lies, and execute a broad based counter measure.

Since Nixon's time, they have never done so. You won't find many men like Reagan, who could counter the left all by himself.

Why should we expect Warner to say anything in favor of President Bush??? His was one of two signatures on the bottom of a DEMOCRAT amendment...wanting a withdrawal plan laid out for all the world to see...

so the terrorists will have a "road map" for when they can take over Iraq permanently...

HE was also the one on the Senate floor that GUSHED, time after time about how wonderful it was to get this bi-partisan amendment passed....GAG ME!!!

I am sure that Levin gave him his list of what he could and couldn't say today....

"Bush has the Bully Pulpit, don't let up!"

I believe the President is going to give a 'major' speech (on the war IIRC) on Tuesday. He's been doing that a bit more lately, which is great! It would be better if it were later in the day in the news hour or prime time, but what he and the VP have been doing is a start.

I'd personally like to see Senators Jeff Sessions and John Cornyn on the shows more - both very articulate (and easy on the eyes ;-)
