Ah perconpat, your statement "Whether Iraqis are fond of (or dislike) Saudis, Iranians, or Men in the Moon is of no consequence in the Global War On Terror. We have to fight he slime wherever they may be lurking" makes way too much sense for the liberals to grasp.

They don't wan't to discuss the whole war on terror because they are having too much fun playing "heads we win, tails you lose" second guessing the strategy for this one battle....namely, the battle Operation Iraqi Freedom. If the libs can force a date intimating premature withdrawal from Iraq-they win. If the libs keep screaming, draw down, withdraw, and we do in fact keep winning and start the turnover-in their minds, we've lost to THEIR withdraw yelp.

Too bad they never listened to Reagan's great quote, "there's no telling how much good you can do if you don't care who gets the credit"

Yep, you're right. And yep, you have pointed out precisely why the Republican leader stands at 27% in public opinion polls.

Now what do you suggest, we shoot for 13% or address an issue that is in desparate need of a remedy?

Today you won't see a democrat on any talking head show that doesn't touch on "Bush lied", "Iraq is a quagmire", "we must change course", "the war is lost", "our men are dying needlessly", "the whole world hates us"... fill in the blanks, they're on point.

Our side goes out there with some squishy ill thought out comments and gets their lunch handed to them by folks who came prepared to do battle. Our folks look like they came intending to play pattie cake pattie cake.

Our Congressmen and Senators need to take a cold hard look at what the Congressmen and Senators on the other side are doing. If they do, they'll see how dismally they come off on the tube. They'll begin to notice why they are having to fight for their lives to get re-elected. Being a productive part of a team has it's advantages, and if these show-boaters don't get their act together, they're going to facilitate a sea-change in Congress and the Senate.

Yep, they've certainly got first ammendment rights. And they can play as a team and get to make those comments from the Congress or Senater, or they can maverick themselves into the private sector where nobody will hear their lame excuses for coherance.

Quite right. The only people who can command a presence on the talk shows are the President, Vice President, Rumsfeld, and Rice. And I'm not totally sure about the latter two.

We have great Republican senators: Inhofe, Coburn, McConnell, Coleman, Kyl. Unless one is wathing Fox, one wuld never know they were in the Senate.

The networks routinely invite the liberal, the incoherent, and the befuddled from the Republican ranks. Bonus points if they can find one who is about to be indicted.

In addition, the ones like Lugar, McCain, and Hagel resent the President because he is President and they are NOT, so they eagerly avail themselves of the opportunity to prove how much better they are than the President, how much smarter they are, how much more "with it", how much better-versed in foreign policy, etc.

Lugar will get an earful from me on Monday (or rather, his staff will).

A good point you make, and one I intend to use when I call Lugar's office on Monday. All of these guys need to understand that we want the GOP functioning as a unit, not a bunch of prima donnas who are looking to score points in front of the camera.

I have 2 friends (husband and wife) who work for the State Dept. and have been in Mongolia 2 years. They said this is THE biggest, most exciting event that country has had, they've been preparing for it for months, and that his reception there was overwhelmingly positive.

I agree with your comments, and it just seems like the right is committing slow political suicide on these shows.

OH...good...that makes sense...and it also is good that Chris didn't just leave it alone, and DID come back on TV to correct the misperception that Biden spewed...

I wonder if Biden's "misleading" remarks, and the same as Bush's so-called "misleading" remarks??? LOL

The only thing that confused me about Russert and his obvious DNC activism was his approach to the Jeb Bush re-election, and how he treated his opponent in that debate. Many thought he damaged the Democrat with his difficult questions...What was his name, I forget except for calling him McLawyer! Why did Russert decide to be more objective in that SO important (to the Dems) election?

While I'm optomistic on Iraq, the economy and just about everything(except the borders/illegals), I know that the constant, 24/7 drumbeat-of-failure pounded out by the MSM will take its toll.

Everyone of Bush's 'failures' are MSM/DNC creations. The Plame 'outting', the DeLay 'laundering', the Katrina 'response-failure', the 'quagmire' in Iraq... all have been let to grow legs by administration/Republican inaction.

Right now... Republicans are dealing with false or ginned-up accusations because they let them go unchallenged for weeks/months.

why the Republican leader stands at 27% in public opinion polls

What poll? Sorry but he stands at 46% in Rasmmuseen. So what poll have you seen him at 27%? Link to source please.

403-3. Sorry but the votes show we are not any where near where the fear the Dinosaur Media always "Conservatives" think we are. What is it going to take to get the Old Line Conservatives to wake up to the reality that this is NOT Vietnam and the Dinosaur Media is not the all powerful, all controlling juggernaut of your nightmares.

Sorry after the 2 dozen or so fraudulent attacks against Bush in the Dinosaur Media in the last 2 years, why do you all suddenly have such religious faith in Dinosaur Media created polls. Perhaps YOU can explain to me. Why am I suppose to take serious "polls" that drop the Republican Sample and increase the Democrat/Independent sample by 1/3? Or Why am I suppose to take serious polls that stopped polling likely voters to poll anyone over 18?

Funny how all the panic stricken "Conservatives" base their WHOLE argument on polls created and conducted by their worst enemies.

Finally, please explain the poll published this week where 72% of respondents said Democrat criticism of the Iraq war was hurting troops morale. Or then 56% said Iraq "Was the right thing to do"

But that's right, just ignore the facts and buy hook line and sinker the Dinosaur Media directed spin lie. What is it going to take for the Stone Cold "Conservatives" to wake up to the fact that the Dinosaur Media is NOT your friends and buying into it's spin lies is the equivalent of listening to Radio Berlin in 1943 and expecting to hear "news".

Why should we expect Warner to say anything in favor of President Bush??? His was one of two signatures on the bottom of a DEMOCRAT amendment...wanting a withdrawal plan laid out for all the world to see...

so the terrorists will have a "road map" for when they can take over Iraq permanently...

HE was also the one on the Senate floor that GUSHED, time after time about how wonderful it was to get this bi-partisan amendment passed....GAG ME!!!

I am sure that Levin gave him his list of what he could and couldn't say today....

Re Allen - no one is perfect but he does have those two minuses on subjects you refer to which were important in my book. He needs to do some housecleaning staff wise or cut down on his politik'n and do his own thinking/research before taking a stance.
I do want him to be The Man at this point in the game but.......

>>>>I know this is going to come a as big shock to the Stone Cold "Conservatives", but the WH has no control over US Senators nor do they have any control over who the Sunday Morning Talk Shows invite to be guests.

Shock? Hardly, mister moderate.

President Bush is the leader of the GOP and while he may not have direct control over the behavior of congressmen, he does have significant influence over those in his party. That includes Senators. More importantly, PresBush has direct control over VP Cheney, Dr Rice, Sec Rumsfeld and other members of his administration. If the 'White House' wants any of these people to appear on a Sunday talkshow, its a done deal. The more the Bush administartion lets the rhetoric from the loyal oppositions efforts against the war in Iraq to go unchallenged, the more the American people will come to be confused about the war. There is no good reason for Bush&Company to be sitting on their hands at this point in the debate. Bush and his people need to remain focused, stay on message and stand up and be heard.

We need very articulate and compelling Republicans to come out and refute the lies. Who do we have with those skills? Reagan was one of a kind, unfortunately. But somewhere in our ranks are persuasive speakers who can represent the truth in a way that can't be ignored.

At the very least, every candidate for office next time, whether for Senator or POTUS, should be required to answer whether they read the whole intelligence report...

of course, they will lie and say yes...so why bother, right?

I agree about Allen. He had to clarify his statement about wanting the President to meet with Cindy Sheehan, and it indicated to me that he had NOT been aware of all that had happened and that he was listening to an incompetent staff member. I know that Allen is very conservative, but if he cannot manage better on issues and staff, he will be a disastrous candidate.

He still has time to get his ducks in a row and start paying attention to what's going on in the press, but the time is NOW, not after he gets the nomination (if he does).

Lugar may be a very smart man, but he always looks like he is thinking about the last cartoon he watched instead of what is going on around him....
