The religious conservatives make fools of themselves. This is about as stupid a boycott as I can ever remember. First of all, Target bans all solicitors and they do a lot of community charitable work, and they DO NOT support any homosexual agenda. Why don't the Religious conservatives use this energy to raise money for the Salvation army instead of boycotting a store for not bending to their agenda. Who gives a rats ass what some dumb store calls Christmas? If it's that important to someone they can pick out a retailer that says Merry Christmas. This boycott will have absolutely no impact on Target's bottom line and the boycott organizers will like impotent.

The boycott is having an impact. USA Today (11/16/05) announced that "Target alarmed investors by saying projected sales at stores open a year in November would miss the estimated 4% to 6% growth. Shares of Target fell $4.13 to $54.30." (A 7% drop.)

Au contraire.

So who did you say was impotent??

Next time please do your homework before you post.

I haven't been in Target in over a year and don't feel a bit foolish and really could care less what people think about me. I don't do it to "bankrupt" Target or force them to change.( I do believe they felt pressure from enemies of the Salvation Army though). Target can do what they want. That's their right. I have a right not to spend my money there . I don't criticize people who do shop at Target and I just don't understand the venom towards Christians who make a personal choice not to. If it isn't making a difference what's the problem?

Try again. Better luck next time. Thank you for playing...

Target Calendar

JUNE

Pride Month
- Began as Pride Days, held at various times around the United States for gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender (GLBT) groups.
- All these celebrations were combined into Pride Month.
- June was chosen to commemorate the Stonewall protests, a three-day demonstration against discrimination in New York City in June of 1969.

What does celebrating "diversity" of "sexual orientation" mean to you?

It sure does make a difference. Last year Target didn't allow S A in the front of its stores, so Wal Mart was smart enough not only to allow S A in the front of its stores but to match dollar for dollar up to one million. Every Christian I know, including myself rush to Wal Mart. Now, Target is forming an alliance with S A to help the needed. Now tell me if the boycott is not effective. I've been in the retail business and I know that it hurt when the sales are down.

Well, not to call you incorrect or anything, but boycotts work, and the AFA has been very successful in previous boycotts. Eisner's out at Disney, and Disney is about to release Chronicles of Narnia. They had intended to secularize it, but instead approached the same company that handled the Passion of the Christ, and contacted several Christian organizations to serve as focus groups.

Merry Christmas.

Everyone observes Holidays differently. Some people celebrate Christmas and to others, Christmas is a celebration.

To many people the 4th of July is just a day to BBQ, get drunk and shoot off fireworks, but to others it is a day to remember those who served and sacrificed for our Country.

I respect those who show their convictions and boycott for what they believe in.

Those who don't have those beliefs and choose to give up their payed days off, Christmas bonuses, turkeys and hams, etc, I would respect also.

"The religious conservatives make fools of themselves."

Being able to spend you money however "foolishly" you want is one of the great things about this country.

Say,..spending it supporting an organization that helps to undermine your personal religious faith.

That would be foolish.

Yours is a thinly disguised insult toward Christians.

There are people left in America who will stand by their Christian faith against this growing onslaught of evil.

You are free to shop where you wish.

The spike in retail business at the end of the year owes EVERYTHING to the annual celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ and the giving spirit derived from that celebration.

Some of us haven't forgotten that.

You insult "religious conservatives" whose grassroots efforts are all that stand between you and the pagan, amoral leftists who would take political power in this country in a heartbeat if the Christians did not fight hard for what is moral and right at every election cycle.

WRONG, it did last year, their sales for Christmas were way down. Amen.

I have to disagree with you on this. The Federation chain - which owns Macy's and other high retail department stores - did not use Merry Christmas last year. They were hit hard as their profits dropped. This year - it is Merry Christmas and Christmas trees. Boycotts do work.

The religous conservatives have been making fools of themselves all year: from Terri Shiavo, to intelligent design, to this ridiculous demand that everyone in the world greet them with "Merry Christmas."

The sooner they leave the party, the better.
