The latest from PoliticalMoneyLine shows Republicans with leads in nearly all categories. But in some cases, the margins are not as big as they used to be, and in the case of the Senate fundraising race, the numbers show that top Democratic fundraiser Charles Schumer is pursuing contributions with the same energy that he pursues TV cameras, which is not good news for the GOP.
Receipts 10/1/05 to 10/31/05: Republican Natl Cmte $7,576,417 Democratic Natl Cmte $5,224,453
National Republican Congressional Cmte $4,210,410 Democratic Congressional Campaign Cmte $1,582,746
National Republican Senatorial Campaign Cmte $2,350,853 National Democratic Senatorial Campaign Cmte $3,030,580
Cash on hand 10/31/05:
RNC $34,391,493 DNC $ 6,100,267
NRCC $19,073,987 DCCC $10,676,909 (also $2,266,667 in debts)
RSCC $ 9,127,833 DSCC $20,588,392
The weak kneed Republicans in the Senate have really screwed themselves over. I know I've thrown nearly every "Senate fundraising" piece of junk mail away...Elizabeth Dole's pleadings are all well and good, but if the Republicans in the Senate are going to bash our President and our troops and play kissy-face with the 'rats, then I'm not interested in giving them my money.

Or...at least that's what I've been told.
Elizabeth Dole strikes me as having been chosen as someone who will not offend any constituency. But she also strikes me as someone who lacks fire in the belly and who is unlikely to fire up the base. What it reminds me of, is kind of like raising funds to enlarge the dining room at the country club. People may give, but they don't exactly feel inspired.
Bump to that.
And she's my senator.
I don't like the jelly spined Republicans any more than you do but it is either us or them. I'd rather get a very nasty social disease than see another rat in office.
You hit the nail on the head. Elizabeth Dole has done an abysmal job fundraising and, perhaps more importantly, recruiting top knotch candidates. The failure to find good candidates in states like North Dakota, Nebraska, and Florida leaves the Republicans vulnerable in 06.
A lot of republicans have stopped giving any money to the RSCC. Some are giving to the RNC and other republican groups, some directly to candidates.
We hope that, given that all other Republican groups are doing better than their Dem counterparts, the senate campaign committee can get the message that we are pissed at them.
This is not a good trend for Republicans. And I feel the trend is happening because so many Republicans have been Democrat Lite.
As long as freepers and other conservatives are in denial and thinking that Republicans are handling things just dandy (which I get told every other day), then we're not calling our Senators and Representatives and demanding more action and better support for the administration.
Dole looks like a disaster, and she should be replaced with someone who can twist some arms and get some good candidates in these races.
And who will stop running false ads against republicans in primaries.
Win the war.
Confirm the judges.
Cut the taxes.
Control the spending.
Secure the borders
It is because many of them are not giveing to the DNC because of Howard Dean so they give to the congressional campaigns. Some of this money will probably go to the DNC instead of the other way around.
"Donate to the Club for Growth, not the NRSCC."
Absolutely. The money is effectively spent (think Thune, Coburn) and *none* goes to the likes of Snowe, Collins or Chafee.
Sometimes it is better to let one lose in order to warn 54.
Do not donate to the NRSC until after the primaries are decided. The RNC is fine.
I simply don't understand why Dole was put in charge of this - not because I have anything against her, but because I don't know what qualifies her to lead this kind of an organization.
Sure, there are a few good ones, but they are swimming upstream against a gaggle of fools in that back-slappin', chummy House of Lords which represents nobody but themselves!
She is a totally inside the beltway type. She is the wrong person to have in this position and the failure of her fundraising efforts proves it.
