Gasoline prices fall for sixth straight week: National Average is $2.250/gallon, $0.299 higher YTD

The national average has fallen 68.2 cents since Oct. 7 to $2.250, but is still 29.9 cents higher than last year.

Paid $2.39 for 87 octane earlier this week, in Huntington Beach, CA.

We were out in different parts of town today. The cheapest I saw was $2.02 and the highest was $2.19.

I paid $1.89 for 93 octane earlier this week. But that's because a bunch of Randalls' in the Houston area are closing down, and they were just dumping their inventory.

Those b*stards in Illinois and Wisconsin nicked me for $2.30 -$2.40 per gallon this past week.

Was happy as hell to get back to Iowa where it's "only" $1.94 today in Des Moines ($2.02 at the Quads).

New York: We have a Lib state with Lib state taxes on gasoline that rise exponentially with the price of gas. The higher the market price of gas, the higher the tax on the gas. It's criminal. It's New York.

New Jersey has refineries. Look at the difference.

Is the Congress going to hold hearings when the oil companies profits dive in the last quarter of the year? Their (the oil companies) profits (for the third quarter) were driven by inventory cost plus profit vs replacement cost plus profit! Did not a number of oil platforms get damaged in the hurricanes? Yes! Were the companies supposed to take a loss or increase the price of gas to also cover the cost of repairs? I'm on the oil companies side here!

This is just another one of the oil industry's dirty tricks. They have lowered the price to fool us.
