now this can be used against him as a flip flopper. just like the rest of the 'RATS.

No, it can't. I heard him read his resolution and it was much more nuanced than the Republican version. If anything, the Democrats will be able to point to the Republican sponsored resolution and point out that A. Democrats don't support an immediate withdrawal from Iraq and B. the Republicans are willing to offer up resolutions that go against their stated principles in order to score cheap political points. It is a mistake for our congressional leaders to adopt the tactics of radio talk show hosts and apply them to the legislative work of our country.

It's not a mistake to use your power to take back the setting of the agenda from the left. Even MSNBC admitted that the House was the place where the passions of the country had their airing. We weren't in the game for several months and now we're back.

"I heard [Murtha] read his resolution and it was much more nuanced than the Republican version."

Yeah, I bet. Nice try, but the word "nuanced" sends up a red flag. "Nuanced" as in flip-flopper? "Nuanced" as in "so ambiguous no rational person can understand it"? Or "nuanced" as in "I really want us to cut and run but know the American public won't stand for it"?

Democrats don't support an immediate withdrawal

MARGARET WARNER: Finally, Congressman, do you think the fact that you as a defense hawk have now come to this position, do you think this represents a tipping point? Are you hearing from other Democrats who voted for the war that they're coming to this view themselves?

REP. JOHN MURTHA: I hope this is a watershed. I hope a lot of people think about what I've said and we can begin to withdraw our troops immediately from that area and put them on the horizon, or over the horizon, so if they have to they can go back in.

This is the closing bit from Murth's website: Because we in Congress are charged with sending our sons and daughters into battle, it is our responsibility, our OBLIGATION to speak out for them. That’s why I am speaking out. Our military has done everything that has been asked of them, the U.S. can not accomplish anything further in Iraq militarily. IT IS TIME TO BRING THEM HOME.

Here's Murtha's call for an immediate withdrawal:

House Democrat calls for immediate troop withdrawal Vietnam vet says the Iraq war is a flawed policy wrapped in illusion

WASHINGTON (AP) -- An influential House Democrat who voted for the Iraq war called Thursday for the immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, another sign of growing unease in Congress about the conflict.

"This is the immediate redeployment of American forces because they have become the target," said Rep. John Murtha, D-Pennsylvania, one of Congress' most hawkish Democrats

St.Chuck, Nancy Pelosi tonight said that 'Republicans' cannot handle the 'truth'.
St.Chuck, you claimed that the Dems never said 'immediate withdraw', yet they have.
Who can't handle the truth St.Chuck?

The only mistake is someone like you posting on this site.

Do you get paid for your inane postings?
