51% Say Bush Doing Poor Job on Iraq
November 18, 2005--Fifty-one percent (51%) of Americans say that President Bush is doing a poor job of handling the situation in Iraq. A Rasmussen Reports survey found that just 33% give the President good or excellent marks on this topic. Fifteen percent (15%) say he is doing a fair job.

Notice that the question is not "Do you think it was a mistake for President Bush to order the US invasion of Iraq?" Since I think Bush is not standing up enough for his decision (which I agreed with), wouldn't that put me in the "Poor Job" category?
Look, this is just politics... we all believed the polls when GWB was at 90%.. he stood up for something then. The admin needs to get proactive and get ahead of these issues. They should have been ahead of the Senate with a withdrawal plan. Just tell the American people that it's time for the Iraqis to take back their country.
Of course it's going to be bad... our forces are the best trained in the world, but if we're going to wait until the Iraqis are anywhere near as good as we are, we'll be there forever.
Your analysis is correct... but this is what happens when an admin. turns negative (no matter how justified). The "attack mode" of discourse sends everyone back to their political base camps, with those in the middle being mostly influenced by current events (which haven't been very good).
But remember, the 90% of Americans who approved of GWB are by and large STILL THERE. They just need to see the president they saw right after 9-11.
The only poll mentioned in the Constitution is the American electoral poll taken in November of 2004. Rassmussy, Gallumpf, and the rest of those no loads mean NOTHING! They should have zero impact on the conduct of governance. They do have impact, however, as our current mobocracy political system derives momentum from parading the perceived faults of the opposition in front of the electorate. Gain enough momentum in a corrupt and biased media (read: control the media) and you can have or remove any candidate or program you want.
Ruefully,
Top sends
I guess I agree with the 51% . IMO he should have nuked Iraq, Syria, Saudi Arabia and Iran months ago. LOL
Amen, brother. I believe that I would have expressed dissatisfaction along those same lines.
the poll is right .
50% say he is doing a poor job.
What they mean is that Bush is trapped trying to be fiscally responsible by cutting cost thereby not being as effective as he could be.
Thus 51% feel he needs to apply more resources to do a better job
Reminds me the poll question I got asked during the Clinton adminstration during the Monica mess "Now that you know about the Monica mess, would it change the way you voted in the last Presidental election." Don't you just know that a "no" response was counted as support for Clinton. I am sure it was worded that way to get the intended results.
If it was not objectively obvious that you are a troll I would accuse you of being one.
The only thing Bush is doing poorly is communicating to the American people. He MUST get a better communications staff.
. . .or just, according to the poll numbers; what we are seeing is that. . .propaganda works.
. . .somehow, being inundated with false info/data. . .as the MSM forges Lib agenda by misleading and misconstruing the truth; or just lying; just what are the polls supposed to show?
"The only thing Bush is doing poorly is communicating to the American people. He MUST get a better communications staff."
AMEN!
This has nothing to do with opinions being right or wrong or knowledge on Iraq. The point is that each of these people are also voters. The assertion implicit in any poll like this is that the results indicate how people may vote and that has nothing to do with being right or wrong. It's not like each person that's 'right' get to vote twice.
Notice: three gradations of an "acceptable" job (i.e. excellent, good, fair). Only one for an unsatisfactory job (poor). When you add the three "acceptables" up it comes out to 48%, which is usually called "within the margin of error" of the 51%. And, as others have already pointed out, this poll does not distinguish between those disatisfied with the President because they're Pat Buchanan paleocons, or members of the "bomb Iraq into the stone age" crowd, or one of the Cindy Sheehans of the world. It's all in how you ask the question.
Polls, schmolls. GWB just needs to stay focused on crushing the Islamofascists, getting Iraqi forces ready to pull their own weight, and slamming critics who undermine morale when we are at war. This war is much larger than Iraq, and will continue long after that country is wobbling around on its own semi-democratic legs.
I am sick and tired of excuses made by people on this forum for Bush's awful poll numbers and GOP performance. Excuses are for losers. Don't be a loser, be a winner.
Exactamundo! The Iraqis will have to do their own security sooner or later, let them do it now! So many other countries..Iran, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan (NOT our ally), Syria, etc. need our steely-eyed attention..
Fire that entire communications staff and hire people who can get the job done. There are 160,000 men and women in uniform who are depending on him, not to mention the 50 million Iraqis and Afghanis.
Be interesting to see just WHO was polled...
