I don't know.

Kinda wish they hadn't.

Mission Accomplished: AS IN the MAIN military objectives had been accomplished. ""

More Americans have been killed in Iraq since then, than before then. I don't call that a sign that "main military objective had been accomplished." Not when even "the Green Zone" isn't secure, or the road to the airport.

hmmm...okay I'll play. What do you base "most voters are opposed to this war" on?

And why did't you call me "chamberlain" when I opposed Clinton's invasions of Haiti and Africa?

You ARE a Chamberlain. Everyone on this forum knows it.

Personally, as long as we're killing Al Qaeda I don't see any reason to leave.

We appreciate your right to an opinion, churchillbuff, but you're dead wrong.

Google "poll" and "Iraq" and you'll see that what every poll over the past several months says. If you're one who says the polls lie (when they don't agree with you), then go down to the drugstore or the barber shop or the hardware store and ask people what they think of this war.

Don't be a dumb@$$. The Green Zone IS secure. The Airport road is significantly more secure now than it was when I was running between Camp Victory and The Green Zone in a Nissan Pathfinder. And yes the MAIN MILLITARY OBJECTIVE has been accomplished. They have DEPOSED Saddam Hussein. And if you are going to be more or less occupying a country when their military isn't ready for 3 years, you are GOING to take casualities. It's a sad fact of life and GET used to it. Freakin trolls.

The plan for withdrawel will be implemented when total victory is achieved. That has been our exit strategy since day one. Still, some of the 'wisest' (heh heh heh) folks on the forum don't know this.

At the present one third of the Iraqi troops needed to protect Iraq, are trained and on the field. In about a year it will be close to 100%.

It's just a hoot to watch folks suggest we should cut and run now. That would be snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. And if folks can't understand that, they shouldn't address me on the topic. I'm not interested in conducting a class on logic 101.

I would define "the job done" as regime change in Iran, Syria, and Saudi Arabia, and the democratization of the rest of the region.

A few links ... GOP and DEM amendments to S.1042 - "National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2006" [Click on 'All Congressional Actions with Amendments' for a real eyeful of stuff].

S.AMND.2518 - Warner Amendment
S.AMND.2519 - Levin Amendment

Reid Presser -> http://reid.senate.gov/record2.cfm?id=248707

Senators will have to choose between the two amendments. Liebeman is making nicey-nice talk, sensing that tonight is a turning point away from politicizing, and toward successful completion of mission. No premature withdrawal, etc. Lieberman is against the Levin version. Anyway ...

The language in S.AMND.2519 that Warner objects to is ...

(c) Reports to Congress on United States Policy and Military Operations in Iraq.--Not later than 30 [Warner wants 90 days here] days after the date of the enactment of this Act, and every three months thereafter until all United States combat brigades have redeployed from Iraq, the President shall submit to Congress an unclassified report on United States policy and military operations in Iraq. Each report shall include the following ...

[deletia]

(7) A campaign plan with estimated dates for the phased redeployment of the United States Armed Forces from Iraq as each condition is met, with the understanding that unexpected contingencies may arise. [Warner would delete this final paragraph in its entirety]

Seems a few unnamed folks are starting to think job security over national security.
