Agreeing with most Americans??? Where do you live? The peoples Republic of Berkley?? I work in town and you see more flags and more We Support the troops stickers then EVER before. I go to college and even there where many of the brain-dead still have their "Kucinich" stickers, there is still very strong support for what we are doing in Iraq. Even my creepy Birkenstock wearing, poney-tailed, tofu eating, Volvo driving English teacher supports this operation. I sure as sh#t don't want to live in your town.

Goals, plans are one thing..Timetables are deadly..

Winning a war requires, among other things, convincing the enemy that holding out won't accomplish anything. The sooner the enemy is convinced of this, the sooner victory will be achieved.

What the Democrats want to do is tell the enemy that if they can hold out for a certain length of time, they will be victorious. I do not see how such a thing would not be construed as a huge aid and comfort. And I'm familiar enough with the Constitution to know where those words appear.

Senators will have to choose between the two amendments.

They could reject both. They don't *have* to do anything.

Yep. I agree, and stand corrected. But it appears that all the Warner-Frist amendment demands of the administration is a routine update of its present reporting practice. And as the "law" applies only to the Executive, it is probably not justiciable anyway. What is Congress going to do if the report isn't forthcoming?

These amendments are politics in a fairly pure form.

Mission accomplished noted the defeat of Saddam's army. Since then, we've been dealing with criminals trying to destablize the government of our Iraqi allies.

"this is a declared war"""

No it isn't

Wait, I've seen this argument in the WaPo this weekend.

You must be Dana Millbank or Walter Pincus.

"PRoblem is, more and more Americans have come to realize that Iraq wasn't a threat to US security."

Middle East muslims have gone insane with their jihad against the west and Isreal. Iraq was under a cease fire, they violated the terms of the cease fire for years. We have to change the middle east culture. Iraq was an open door. They violated the cease fire agreement, and we moved in. Now seeds of democracy are planted in the middle east. They were planted in Afghanistan as well. You said Iraq was not a threat. The whole middle east is a threat. Look at the culture of hate and ignorance that is being taught to the people there from the time of children.

If we dont stop them, millions will die. Now we are Installing democracy so the people will live in freedom in afghanistan and iraq. Freedom will spread. We will unbalance the middle east and bring sanity there.

Not a threat to US security? I am amazed at the ignorance of people that say the things you say. This effort will save many lives in the future.

"$60 billion of our hard-earned tax dollars on a war against a 3d world country with a 5th rate military"

Hey WARD Churchillbluff! I am going to call you names to aggravate you and denigrate your stupid insipid positions.

This war is not just about Iraq, dupek! We are fighting elements of Al Queada throughout the Mid-east including hostile radical Islamic regimes in Iran , Syria and other places. The battle for Iraq is much like Guadalcanal(a small insigificant island in the Solomons) where lots of blood was shed and many millions of $ of equipment and resources exhausted. But it was there where the war turned against the Japanese. These fanatical Muslims are pouring alot of their resources into Iraq too and serious about undermining US morale using their IEDs which are very sophisticated hi-tech devices and are not manufactured in Iraq. Their aim is to win a political war and from what I can see they have suceeded into swaying many gutless, soft Americans like yourself into quitting. Grow up and grow a pair!!

I think McCain had some pretty good ideas for winning over America to the war effort in his speech the other day.

I think President Bush and his supporters want a end to the war. But on our terms not a bunch of Rino's.

The airport road has been secured for a while now.

Don't get in the way of her greasy propaganda. She hates that.
