SENATE REPUBLICANS PUSH FOR PLAN ON ENDING WAR
When the troops come home.
LOL
Would you please PM your address to me. I want to send you a spray can of bright red neon paint so you can paint a big red cross on your roof so when the terrorists hit the next time they'll know where you live and can use you as the first target.
You must be familiar with Churchill's statement in the opening of The Second World War, in which he says no war was more preventable than World War II. If the European democracies had stood up to Hitler in the 30's, when it would have been much easier to do so, World War II would have been prevented.
Does that not apply to this war? If we do not stand up to the Islamic extremists now, when they are few and weak, what will be the consequences later? Do we wait until they obtain access to nuclear weapons? Do we wait until their influence extends into Europe? And please don't depend on the Democrats, they won't fight for anything. Their idea of bravery is calling someone else a chickenhawk.
It will come to an end. When our guys finish the job there. Iraq has a new government, a new constitution, elected officials doing the will of the people. The US servicemen are doing a great job, and they have done more there in a shorter period of time than I could have imagened. But to people of your politcal stance in this, their deaths are just a politcal talking point to attack the President.
50 years---if one sees the beginning in 1914 it would be 80 years----i get your point---oh so correct
I compare what is there now, which may be Islamic in name, but is a republic in function. Given the choice between a republic which calls itself an Islamic state, and an Islamic state that calls itself a republic, then I'll choose the former. It's certainly a big improvement over Saddam. Furthermore, the strategic advantages of Iraq, especially in the direct leverage we can exert over several troublesome neighbors, are ours in reality. When you compare how we're doing in Iraq to how we did in previous conflicts, the situation looks very good.
When you can show me an official Iraqi state fatwa then I'll reconsider.
The troops have been in Iraq about 2.5 years. That is not terribly long. We need to establish a functioning democracy in Iraq, train more Iraqi police, kill Zarqawi, and then come home. If we leave now Iraq will probably fall into chaos and civil war.
Hey Zarqawi, keep up the good work. The United States Senate is backing you more than the president.
That's good.
many republican senators - are weak. when these same polls showed "support for the war" in the 70s, the Dems didn't care. they mounted a steady campaign of negative reporting and misinformation to take those numbers down, helped by the vacuum created by the administration's non-existent message as they were running around talking about SS reform at 54 speeches.
to turn this around, you have to turn the argument back on the liars - what would the Dems do over there? set a date for withdrawal? leave tommorrow?
let's be honest, alot of this is simply political posturing. we all know there will be troop withdrawals in 2006 - everyone is setting up for that - some want credit, others will spin it as "Bush is giving up", etc.
What are the first three Presidential Orders you would issue related to the Iraq war if you were to become the Commander in CHief tomorrow? I assume since you know all of the answers, and have all of the supporting polls, you have a solution to the problem. SO what are the three orders?
we will know we've won when Iraq is not a topic on this site
The USS Lincoln, at the end of their successful combat deployment, put up a banner stating that their mission was accomplished.
It was.
You do know the difference between a "mission" and a "war", don't you.
The bombers crews of the Eighth Air Force were required to complete 25 "missions", not win 25 "wars", before they could go home.
Show us where George W. Bush ever said "mission accomplished".
You won't be able to because you lied when you claimed that he ever said that.
I defiy you to prove , provide a FACT, that our Commander in Chief EVER said, or wrote a comment, "Mission Accomplished."
In war, there are thousands of "missions." The United Stated Navy and Marine Corps were on A mission. These guys accomplished A mission.
The sailors and marines posted a banner on that aircraft carrier stating "mission accomplished;" as in THEIR single / multiple MISSION(s) were accomplished.
I'd suggest you might want to do your homework, sir; or return to DUmmyville.
(I don't know why I have to jouste with a mentally unarmed moron).
I would start with Spain.
