"In 2001, Rick Rescorla was the 62-year-old head of security at the Morgan Stanley Bank. The bank's offices were situated high up in the South Tower at the World Trade Center. Rescorla was convinced that Osama Bin Laden would use jet planes to try and destroy the World Trade Center.
Long before September 11th, he developed an evacuation plan for the bank. The plan and its preparation were hugely unpopular with the Morgan Stanley staff, many of whom thought Rescorla was mad. Ultimately, however, the plan saved 3,000 lives. It was put into effect after the first jet hit the North Tower--even though WTC managers were instructing everyone to stay in the buildings. When the second jet hit the South Tower, Rescorla averted panic and organized a rapid evacuation. Rescorla went back inside to help the injured and trapped get out. He was still inside when the building collapsed and his body was never found."
Yes, he was there for the first Center bombing, if memory serves and he told all he could that the next time they would succeed probably by plane. He also predicted the seemingly random but actually orchestrated terrorism we see now. Further, he felt we could not do the nation building, which is kinda Iraq, the west is favorable to, but, as I recall and hope I interpret correctly felt we had to mind our own affairs. I am not sure I agree with him on this. V's wife.
Yes, I have. I recently finished reading a truly remarkable book: "102 Minutes: The Untold Story of the Fight to Survive Inside the Twin Towers," by Jim Dwyer and Kevin Flynn. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to know what it was like inside those buildings before they fell.
Thanks a million for all that!!

Wow , that was easy.
Actually, I did see that program a couple of weeks ago and was expecting a kind of Nostradomas thing.
Instead I saw a story of a very focused and heroric man.
Never heard of him, until today. Thanks!See also, from www.rickrescorla.com:
My husband, Rick Rescorla, was one of the 3,000 Americans murdered by terrorists on 9/11/01.
Rick Rescorla - Battle of the Ia Drang - Viet Nam - 1965Rick was Vice President of Security for Morgan-Stanley/Dean-Witter, the largest tenant in the World Trade Center. His heroic actions on the day of the attack, along with his extraordinary foresight and preparation, saved the lives of 2,700 people.
His story has been told on television and radio - in newspapers and magazines - and in the book Heart Of A Soldier, by Pulitzer Prize winner James B. Stewart. Rick is also on the cover of another book, We Were Soldiers Once... And Young, written by General Hal Moore and Joseph Galloway.
You see, 9-11 was not the first time Rick had distinguished himself. 9-11 was just the last heroic chapter of his heroic life... - Susan Rescorla
I have a close friend who was an FBI agent. For YEARS before 9-11 he repeatedly told me that a major terrorist - with Muslims at its head - was imminent. Our entire government Repub/Dem was/is filled with cowards who refused/refuse to call a spade a spade.
And he didn't let DC FReepers know he was coming?
We could have planned a party.
Possibly a different line of internet inquiry. I haven't seen anything mentioned about this (the matchbook reward ... misprinted reward ... whatever) since. Not that it hasn't surfaced, but that information post 9/11 has been overwhelming. Just a thought.
Remembering Rick Rescorla today. How many more would have died if this extraordinary man had not been in the right place at the right time that day.
This is indeed a day to remember men like Rick Rescorla and to commit to making ourselves more like him to the best or our abilities.
Cheers,
Lloyd
