Hour 2: Chris Hansen did this excellent expose on Dateline NBC last week. In the piece they posed as young boys on the internet and lured sexual predators to a home. Once the men entered the home they confronted them. Besides the rabbi, there was a doctor, a special education teacher, an army man, a defense contractor, a medical student
the list goes on. Not one of these men, if you saw him on the street would stand out in a crowd. This piece was a scary view into the world of internet predators. What is your major malfunction guys!

Well, I happen to believe that it is you who are wrong here. Thus I stick to my reading.

FYI, Crucifixion is an old and venerable tradition, but it would still take a sick freak to want to carry one out.
I think executions in the US should be televised if for nothing else then the deterrent effect. If execution is too coarsening for the public to see, then maybe the public shouldn't be doing it.

You can't possibly be this thick. It's not about me being right, it's about original intent. My "reading" of the 8th Amendment is totally without consequence. Your reading however differs wildly from those who's opinions are relevant here, and that would be the founders.

I'm not big on the idea, but at least that particular idea isn't blatantly unconstitutional as the ideas that have been proffered by some are.

I prefer reading and understanding myself. As for being thick - physician, look in the mirror and heal thyself.

I see, so you think the opinions of the founders are irrelvant now? You're giving yourself away here. I'll leave you to your opinions. My point has been made and your true nature revealed to all. Have a nice night.

Since you are fond of the founders and their laws you shouldn't object to capital punishment for sodomites, rapists et al then, no?

I have absolutely no objections to the execution of rapists or sodomites on constitutional grounds. The constitution clearly provided for capital punishment, and only a complete moron could say otherwise.
My problem with Gslob is two fold: 1st, his sadism. He revels in his sickness. 2nd, he doesn't have the good sense to at least admit that the founders really did mean it when they wrote the 8th Amendment. In further reading, I've come to understand that the founders even meant to ban that oh-so-french method of execution, beheading. I'm still researching to see if I can figure out why, as it would seem to be painless.

I'd prefer the Internet predator (if found guilty after a fair trial) be caned on the first offense, and sentenced to death for the second, although they should all be put to death for child molestation on the first offense.

I read this about the subject...
Does the head remain briefly conscious after decapitation?

I'm not at all sure that caning should be constitutional. As it stands, it is currently forbidden, and I'm not at all convinced that it's the wrong decision. I'm not particularly fond of Asian justice.

Men are sexually creatures. It's basically their job. I will be attacked for saying this, but women have made it very difficult for men to act like men...so they resort to sex without responsibility.

The name of the organization that poses as the young children the lure these creeps is named "Perverted Justice". About 5-6 months ago a guy that worked in the mail/shipping department of my work place (in Columbus, Ohio) was arrested near Dayton whn he arrived at a bowling alley expecting to meet a 14 year old girl. He was set up by Perverted Justice.
This guy's name is Mark Hill and his story has been on FR before ie
here. My work mates used to call him "Mail Guy".
Curic should be praising the volunteers of Perverted Justice. They donate their time to augment law enforcement's efforts to nail these creeps.

Katie wanted to know if the network were going to turn the men in and that if so "what kind of punishment would they get?" Katie says a LOT of stupid things, but I think it is pushing the envelope to say she is showing sympathy with this quote.

The reading you are propounding is pernicious in the consequences of its application, and also sounds PC and - horribile dictu - LIBERAL!! - and thus is not merely wrong, but boneheadedly so.
