Oh, well, a nice little victory for a RINO in an overwhelmingly 'Rat city. Bloomburg is not my favorite Republican (or anyone else's), but this is NYC, after all.

Doesn't seem like it's going to be a huge voter turnout.

Good thing the NY G.O.P. candidate wasn't a conservative. They would've lost and ended up with a Bloomberg Democrat mayor.

"Democrat Mayor Michael Bloomberg stormed to a second term Tuesday with an overpowering victory over another Democrat Fernando Ferrer".

Not that the obligatory Bloomberg bon mots won't apply, but perhaps it's worth mentioning that former President Clinton campaigned for Federer against Bloomberg...and lost.

...in Blue NYC.

Is this considered a Republican victory?

FYI, Ballot Questions 3 & 4 are winning by roughly 75-25, Question 2 60-40 .

Well, it's not suprising considering he successfully booted out all the smokers from the city.

So the Bloomberg (Republican-Liberal) beat Ferrer. La di da. The election was a disaster in New York City.

Aside from Staten Island Borough President James Molinaro, no Conservative won.
As far as I can tell, no non-incumbent Republican won.(I get the feeling that Bloomberg was a net loss. A lot of Republicans failed to come out and vote after seeing Bloomberg up ~40% in the last poll.)

Pat Russo (R-C) lost to the incumbent councilwoman Gentile in the 43rd CD (Brooklyn). Philip Foglia (R-C) lost to Democrat James Vacca in an open race for the 15th. The retiring Democrat-Conservative Councilman endorsed Foglia.

In my hood (the upper east side) the Liberal Republicans lost open races. In the 4th CD, Dan Garodnick (Dem) beat Pat Murphy (Rep-Liberal-Ind), even though the former Log Cabin President appeared with Bloomberg and had volunteers. Likewise Jessica Lappin (Dem-WFP) trounced Dr. Joel Zinberg (R-Liberal-I) in the 5th CD.

I await the full results for a proper post-mortem.

ABC radio reported yesterday that Bloomberg spent $82 million on this race...can that be true? I'd think that $8.2 million woul dbe outrageous enough, but $82,000,000???

Should we be happy that a liberal RINO buys a mayor "victory" for $80 million?

What has Bloomberg done that advanced any of the GOP's agenda?

Please excuse me. I know it's a victory for the GOP but I just can't get excited about Bloomberg...
