I hope they don't. Mortuaries will be busy. The left should remember, that a vast majority of Americans are very well armed. They come looking to torch my home, business or vehicles and that'll be the end of those particular lefties.

I can't even imagine what that would have been like. I'm glad that our soldiers have the guts to do what they do, I say that I could go into combat but when push came to shove.... who knows.

I appologize if my post upset you. Living in Canada now for two years has made me realize just how much power 'Anti-Americanism' has when it comes to political capital. As such, I have a really hard time stomaching the thought of what our soldiers paid the price of their lives for, when it comes to defending people like that again. I guess in the end, they're better men than I am, and the right thing still has to be done. Isolationism has never been an effective policy.

I disagree. Mainly, many people I know (my husband and I included) have firearms in their homes, and are quite prepared to use them in self/property defense.

Many are like me - in their 40's - 50's, tired of being overlooked, and are now participating in grass roots. In the 70's I was a democrat because my dad was. But since the 80's and Regan, my eyes have been opened, and I refuse to be marginalized (sp) by the Olympian/Elitists/intolerant/intelligentsia. I may not have a college education - but I've lived long enough to know a thing or two about REALITY, to be fearless, and quite prepared to make a difference. I'm mad about how the constitution is being dumped over the side, and I'm not gonna take this NO MORE!!

Something to keep in the back of our minds...these riots were planned. Now the rioters are using shotguns to shoot at the cops. If this were happening in the US, there would be a bunch of dead rioters by now. One of the quickest ways to get yourself shot in America is to point a gun at a cop.

I've seen a lot of people on these threads (as well as threads during the New Orleans chaos) say something like "That's it. I'm getting a gun".
I have a theory that another phenomena may be occuring amongst current gun owners like myself. Many may be saying "That's it. I'm getting an AR-15".
Until now, I never saw the allure of military-style firearms, but if groups of rioters were burning the cars in MY neighborhood, I'd feel kinda naked with only my 12 gauge or bolt-action 30-06.
I guess I am a gun nut...

I love how threads like this end up with a discussion of the best type of firearms to own!!

I honestly feel that for a riot like this, my super mag 12ga would be sufficient for keeping people away from my car. Wouldn't mind something like a .40 cal sidearm as well.
