My uncle's ship was sunk on its way to Omaha Beach. He was in the water quite a while before the British saved him. Several shipmates died, and my uncle never went swimming voluntarily again.
I can't even imagine what that would have been like. I'm glad that our soldiers have the guts to do what they do, I say that I could go into combat but when push came to shove.... who knows.
I appologize if my post upset you. Living in Canada now for two years has made me realize just how much power 'Anti-Americanism' has when it comes to political capital. As such, I have a really hard time stomaching the thought of what our soldiers paid the price of their lives for, when it comes to defending people like that again. I guess in the end, they're better men than I am, and the right thing still has to be done. Isolationism has never been an effective policy.
