Negro is Spanish for black. It's the derivative that's the the problem.

Seems like Andy and Dave Chappelle are in agreement - I see Chappelle use this word all the time.

I play Scrabble and Negro is disallowed. I agree with Rooney, what is wrong with that word. It's no different than Caucasian

Well the word is in the dictionary:
Ne·gro

2. A member of the Negroid race. Not in scientific use.

It is what blacks called themselves for a generation here. We have gone from Negro to black to African American.

Could be, then again with niger being the latin word for black, that's a possibility also.
