Did 'revoked' living willkill communicative man?

Family members are investigating what they consider to be suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a nursing home patient at the center of a life and death tug-of-war reminiscent of the Terri Schiavo tragedy.

Seventy-nine-year-old Jimmy Chambers died in the early morning hours of Oct. 24 after the tracheotomy tubes that deliver oxygen from a ventilator to a hole in his neck became unhooked. Family members were told Chambers, a resident of the Anne Maria Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in North Augusta, S.C., apparently pulled the interlocking tubes apart.

"We're having it investigated. We're just incredulous," Chambers' daughter, Deanna Potter, told WND in reference to her siblings. "The last time I saw dad he was blowing me a kiss. I blew him one and he blew one back."

The retired dispatcher for Holland Motor Express died approximately 10 hours later. His death certificate indicates he died of "natural causes."

"Apparently, suffocation is a 'natural cause' when you're on a ventilator. We're contesting that," said Potter. "He suffocated. He didn't just pass away. He struggled and fought. And I'm just so angry."

Potter estimates it would have taken 10 to 14 minutes for her father, deprived of oxygen, to fall unconscious, and questions why the nursing home staff didn't come to his aid.

"The oxygen-saturation meter and his ventilator both would have had alarms going off. Four-thirty, five o'clock in the morning you'd think someone would hear this," she added. "That's the thing that really bothers me and makes me suspicious."

Stupid Quote of the Week: "I have taken my sadness, anger and worry and channeled them into a personal resolution: I will do everything in my power to keep another unsuspecting American family from re-living our private national nightmare."

Reaction to Michael Schiavo's fundraising efforts through TerriPac

"This won't be the first time the euthanasia lobby has attacked a consistently pro-life leader like Tom DeLay. If their goal is to educate voters, this is a waste of their time and money because everyone in the Congressman's district knows he stands on the side of protecting life," DeLay spokeswoman Shannon Flaherty said in an e-mail.

When asked about Michael Schiavo's PAC, [Jeb] Bush said, "I won't be giving any money to him. I would discourage people giving him money."

MS is nuts if he thinks he can play with the big dogs. He's a punk.

Must be nice. I accounted for every last nickle when I was conservator for my mom. It was a total headache, but I understood why it was necessary.

For some reason, I cannot picture MS as a Republican. Maybe more accurate to say conservative.

One must be careful when posting on an internet message board. The woman made a death threat.

I do agree with that. After all, look what happened to Mr. Rigoberto when he made a death threat in Miami yesterday. Blew his brains out.

So what is to stop Freepers from starting their own PAC to fight those politicians who advocate the death culture? Or, in lieu of that, of working with a PAC that already exists? Any ideas?

I know someone on another message board who received a visit from the FBI. Luckily, they realized that he was just a young guy shooting off his mouth.

Who is Mr. Rigoberto?

I don't know anything about PAC's, or how to start one, but I'm sure someone here on FR knows : )

Well here is one excerpt from the website:

"At the TerriPAC Election Center, you will see your donations being put to work to pay for television and radio ads, direct mail or personal appearances by Michael Schiavo in the states and districts of political leaders who chose their own political gain over personal privacy and the rule of law.

HOME | WHO WE ARE | WHAT WE DO | ELECTION CENTER | RESOURCES | DONATE ONLINE | LIVING WILLS | CONTACT US

©2005 TerriPAC, All Rights Reserved.

Paid for by TerriPAC www.terriPAC.com Not authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee."

...which is a clear statement of intention to engage in electioneering communications to influence national elections (since it also shows a picture of Congressman Tom Delay); but since I haven't yet found any entry on the FEC website for this PAC, I wonder if it is already in violation of federal election law.

Anyone know how to check more thoroughly?

I'm not sure if a PAC has to register with the FEC before they solicit donations. I would guess that they do. Hmmm...

I haven't read all of the posts here, but someone just told me this disgusting info:

Michael Schiavo is going to try to get into politics to keep laws from being passed that government can't interfer with family decisions on people like Terri Schindler.

Anybody hear about this??

Re: my last post. I knew about the PAC, but I'm wondering if there's something else political going on, as well.

Hmmmmm. The more that I think about it, the more I think it must be the PAC.

It's just that my friend knew about that PAC, so heard something on the news that gave her the impression that it was something else.

Maybe it was the way the news announced it.

Thanks for bumping this, Swampy. I thought the whole "death by euphoria" thing was on the back burner until I got this. What a horribly tragic case. Hopefully Mr. Chambers' family will never give up.

"Right to Die" will morph seamlessly into "Duty to Die" almost overnight.

Last night Sean Hannity was live from Rivera Beach, FL, where the city gubmint there plans to take some 2400 homes. Some of these folks have lived there 40 years and for other, it is the home where they grew up or their parents lived. The Mayor stated that these Riviera Beach residents had a "duty' to vacate for the good of the community. "the good" being for private developers to build condos, malls and marinas.

We are already on the slippery slope and some of us are clawing our way back up. The government and medical field get to decide exactly how much life, how much liberty and how much pursuit of happiness we are entitled to. All of these are directly related on how much of a drain we are on either the collective economy or the economy of any one individual, or how many people will be made happy vs. our own selfish individual happiness. Forget about the liberty part, that left a long time ago. After all the Consitution is a "living document", right? You bet your bippy that someone else's living and someone else's life is worth more than yours.

What someone else posted was exactly right. Baby boomers cannot arrive in their golden years thinking they are going to get equal access to ventilators and feeding tubes as their predecessors.

The National Right to Life has a "Will to Live" which is worded very differntly from a "living" will. The living will is a death sentence and anyone who has one should revoke it immediately. I'm not posting a hyper link because FR doesn't post the code on the posting page and I'm not looking up the code. I've been doing that six years now. That would seem way too simple. So here's the link in text:

Thanks for the information on some of the people who are behind Schiavo's stunt of using Terri's precious name. The Demos are morons if they think the majority of the American people supported Terri's death. They are just wrong. I met many people who were democrats and even some pro-abortion Republicans who totally disagreed with Michael Schiavo and his ilk.

I wish the Schindlers had been sucessful in their attempt to gain a divorce for Terri from Schiavo. A divorce might have stopped Schiavo from using her name for gain, and more importantly it might have saved her life. I heard that the brief was filed in the wrong court for the divorce, but I'm not sure if that was correct or not.

Unfortunately the people who are pushing this agenda of Death are well organized and have lots of money in their pockets. They have been at this for years, and even decades. Schiavo is just a pawn - no different, as someone else mentioned, from Cindy Sheehan. Both are being used by those who want to ruin this country and it's constitution.

Those behind Michael Schiavo's PAC will be surprised at the reaction from their own supporters if they run ads using his mug. I don't think very many of his avid supporters liked him as a person. I read posts by people who thought it was acceptable to kill Terri, but expressed a dis-like for Schiavo. Even Demos couldn't understand why he wouldn't just let the Schindlers have their daughter. They couldn't understand why he didn't just go on with his life, his new woman and their two kids. There was NO reason for him to be so obsessed with ending Terri's life - NONE!!!

Thanks again for all the information you post here on the thread. I really appreciate it. Please tell the Schindlers how much I miss Terri and how much I admire them.

If you have a problem with "living" wills, try a Will to Live. A living will is a death sentence.
