Family members are investigating what they consider to be suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a nursing home patient at the center of a life and death tug-of-war reminiscent of the Terri Schiavo tragedy.
Seventy-nine-year-old Jimmy Chambers died in the early morning hours of Oct. 24 after the tracheotomy tubes that deliver oxygen from a ventilator to a hole in his neck became unhooked. Family members were told Chambers, a resident of the Anne Maria Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in North Augusta, S.C., apparently pulled the interlocking tubes apart.
"We're having it investigated. We're just incredulous," Chambers' daughter, Deanna Potter, told WND in reference to her siblings. "The last time I saw dad he was blowing me a kiss. I blew him one and he blew one back."
The retired dispatcher for Holland Motor Express died approximately 10 hours later. His death certificate indicates he died of "natural causes."
"Apparently, suffocation is a 'natural cause' when you're on a ventilator. We're contesting that," said Potter. "He suffocated. He didn't just pass away. He struggled and fought. And I'm just so angry."
Potter estimates it would have taken 10 to 14 minutes for her father, deprived of oxygen, to fall unconscious, and questions why the nursing home staff didn't come to his aid.
"The oxygen-saturation meter and his ventilator both would have had alarms going off. Four-thirty, five o'clock in the morning you'd think someone would hear this," she added. "That's the thing that really bothers me and makes me suspicious."

I have not been following the Scott Thomas case that closely. I cannot go through the ups and downs of another judicial murder in FL. If Scott cannot speak now, why would you think that he can speak next Tuesday? Does the judge hearing this case have ties to George W. Greer? If so, Scott is doomed.

Some FL people surely pay high prices for marrying the wrong person, don't they? But in other places, people seem to get rewarded for marrying the wrong person: with high-dollar divorce settlements, etc. People in FL just don't seem to respect any life except that of their own.
Why hasn't Scott already filed a divorce from that horrible woman? Is he unable to sign the papers?

I hope the politicians are reading FR because they made strange bedfellows with the extreme left wing when they voted against Terri's life.
Wait until June Maxam's book comes out. Then it will hit the fan. It will hit the fan. I hope she gets on national tv and c-span.
If the Judge orders his murder, the Fla Legislature won't have to bother with him or taking our calls and emails.

I don't think the judge will even listen to Scott testify in court to save his life.
Terri's younger sister, Suzanne Vitadamo, and brother, Bobby, shared their thoughts on Terri's tragic death with the National Catholic Register (paper edition, Jan 1-7, 2006). Below are excerpts from the interview.
Register: "Now that more than nine months have passed, how are you moving forward?"
Suzanne: "Every day we [Terri's family] hear from families who need our help. Our country took a step backward because Terri's case set a precedent that will make it easier to kill disabled people.
"People don't realize that what used to be considered basic care - providing food and water - is called an artificial means of sustaining life in some states now [including Florida].
"...not even allowed to give my sister an ice chip to ease her thirst."
"The pro-death movement was working under the radar for a long time, but we're on to it now; we know their protocol."
Bobby Schindler: "Our goal [of the Terri Foundation] is to get the truth out so no one else has to go through the same hell. It's taken us a while to realize that God used Terri to wake up this nation. Her death was a turning point to show that this can happen in America."
Suzanne: "Terri's death was slow, disgusting, and barbaric. My sister looked like an Auschwitz victim. It was a horrific image that I'll have with me until the day I die."
Bobby: "We had to pass through three security checkpoints and weren't allowed to be alone with her. There were canine units outside the hospice and police snipers on the roof." [compliments of the Pinellas County Sheriff'f Office and the Pinellas Park Police Dept]
"She was called a 'vegetable' but she touched people all over the world."
Suzanne: "She wasn't dying and she wasn't suffering, just disabled. If a hospice [Woodside Hospice] will admit patients only if they have six months to live, why was Terri housed in one for five years?"
"I'm so proud to be Terri's sister. Her incredible will fueled our fight. She taught me to apreciate every day, to love and never be afreaid, to fight for what you belive in, and that where there's life, there's hope. She taught me to see the value in every person and to realize that we're all here for a reason."
Will Scott be allowed to appear in court?
