O'Connor must be on the bench when the opinion is handed down, if her opinion is to be included

I thought that was the case. What happens with regard to a Justice who was not on the Court for oral argument. Can they vote?

OMG we had the same router problems at work earlier in the week. What a day Monday was dealing with a boss who was just hyper about it.

McCain says it is his "obligation" to go along with the Gang of 14!!!

What an incredible thing to say....Arizona freepers, how do you like that? McCain has transferred his obligations from you, to a bunch of libs and RINOS....and admitted it.

That sentence should be in any candidate's arsenal that runs against McCain for anything, from now on.

Mine does it about once every two weeks. This IP drops from the modem to the router.

I have an added problem...I'm so technologically inept, it's laughable. When I ask my son to give me ahnd with something, it always begins with him getting flustered and saying...Dad, get out of the way and let me do it, please. You're mak8ing me nuts. I've seen dead people in better form on a computer.

Up until the 1980s, the approval process of Justices was frequently rather quick. From Truman through Nixon, Justices were typically approved in a month. From Reagan through Clinton, the duration of the approval process extended to much longer. Some speculate this is because of the increasing political role Justices play.

Staunch union supporter Rep. Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) has received the Cesar Chavez Award from the United Farmworkers Union. But the $25 million Northern California vineyard she and her husband own is a non-union shop.
The hypocrisy doesn't end there. Pelosi has received more money from the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees union than any other member of Congress in recent election cycles.

But the Pelosis own a large stake in an exclusive hotel in Rutherford, Calif. It has more than 250 employees. But none of them are in a union, according to Schweizer, author of "The Bushes: Portrait of a Dynasty" and a regular contributor to the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and other periodicals.

The Pelosis are also partners in a restaurant chain called Piatti, which has 900 employees. The chain is – that's right, a non-union shop.

Billionaire Bush-basher George Soros says the wealthy should pay higher, more progressive tax rates. But he holds the bulk of his money in tax-free overseas accounts in Curacao, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands.

The Nation editor Katrina vanden Heuvel: ultra-left class-warrior, defender of the inheritance tax -- and trust-fund heiress who fought the IRS all the way to the Supreme Court to avoid paying $2 million in estate taxes

Moore's working-class, "regular guy" pose is contradicted by his lavish lifestyle and prima donna behavior -- such as traveling the country in a private jet accompanied by a fleet of private SUVs and bodyguards

Why Bush is Wrong on Poverty
by Katrina vanden Heuvel

snip

Like a lot of right-wing ideologues when it comes to issues of race and poverty in America, he's in denial.

snip

Bush may talk about addressing poverty in this rich nation, but his coldhearted agenda has made the problems much more pronounced. His administration gave a massive tax break to corporations and the wealthiest individuals in his first term

snip

America's claim to shame is that it has the highest level of poverty in the industrialized world. Bush's four and a half years of trickle-down theories have failed miserably. The poor have become even poorer.

******

Hey, Katrina, if YOU & your liberal friends PAID YOUR SHARE OF TAXES maybe the "poor" wouldn't be so poor! You lying HYPOCRITE!

Barbra Streisand is another proponent of environmentalism, yet she drives an SUV, lives in a mansion and has a $22,000 annual water bill. In the past, she has driven to appointments in Beverly Hills in a motor home because of her aversion to using public bathrooms.
