ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) -- In a major victory for Merck & Co., a jury has found the drugmaker properly warned consumers about Vioxx risks. The finding means Merck will not be held liable for the 2001 heart attack suffered by a man taking the painkiller.
Good, now maybe these anti-inflamatories will get re-introduced into the market.

The jury agreed with Merck's contention that Idaho postal worker Frederick "Mike" Humeston suffered from job stress and health risks that caused his heart attack. Humeston, now 60, had alleged his intermittent use of Vioxx over two months caused his heart attack four years ago.
What the cash cow can't be milked!!! The trial lawyers aren't going to like this.
Hurray! Not that the poor gentleman had a heart attack, but rather instead, that greedy trial lawyers couldn't feed off of his corpse like jackals.

I'm shocked to find out a giant pharma's not going down the drain. Like cig warnings, let the buyer beware. How sweet for the people who got popped in the head with a stroke and spent the rest of their lives hooked up to box.

Sounds like the Jersey jury had more sense than the Texas one that awarded 1/4 BILLION against Merck.
Yeah, imagine that. A jury actually finds that abusing your body for 60 years may be the contributing factor in your heart attack rather than a drug you just started taking.
Next thing you know they may actually blame alcohol for livers going bad and eating too much food contributing to being overweight.
How sweet for people with bad knees that have been atching all the best drugs for dealing with their problem flee from the market inspite of their dossage being less than 1/10 of the potentially dangerous dossage. These suits have gotten nuts, completely over the top and without basis in reality, it's about time the door got shut and some sanity returned.

Pfizer is slowly introducing celebrex back into the market, after taking a huge hit due to vioxx. New warning labels and multi-million dollar ad campaign.
Both of the drugs helped me greatly after knee surgery, with no side effects.
Sometimes I wonder why the drug companies even bother to bring new drugs to market. All they ever get is multi-billion dollar lawsuits.
