Abercrombie & Fitch is under fire again, this time for selling T-shirts that are causing some controversy, reported WEWS-TV in Cleveland.
The Columbus-based retailer is selling shirts marketed to teenage girls bearing slogans such as "Give me something to scream about," "I had a nightmare I was a brunette," and "I'd look great on you."
Some teens say that they don't see the shirts as a big deal, and they shouldn't be taken seriously.
Others say the shirts may be inappropriate for wearing to some places, such as school, and that wearing one may be sending a negative message about yourself.
Psychologist Deborah Plummer said the shirts can be mentally detrimental for teen girls, many of whom already struggle with self-image issues.
A group of girls in Pittsburgh is so upset by the T-shirts that they have decided to boycott the store completely.
Abercrombie & Fitch said in a statement the T-shirts have been very popular among adult women to whom they are marketed.
This is not the first time Abercrombie & Fitch has come under fire.
Two years ago, the retailer sparked controversy after its release of a "magalog" containing photos of nude and partially-clothed models.
The publication was pulled from the shelves.
And in 2004, Abercrombie & Fitch settled a lawsuit accusing the retailer of promoting whites at the expense of minorities.
Asian and Hispanic groups filed the lawsuit.
I want one for my ex...
"The company's ads feature young men streaking through campus, in the showers pulling down others' boxers, and fully nude posteriors on the beach.
"The company has never feared that their advertising appears to be too gay. The company's advertising has also come under fire for appearing to encourage alcohol consumption among youth."

?
It doesn't take any time to not shop somewhere.
"I remember when Abercrombie & Fitch sold expedition and shooting wear to the gentry."
Yeah, I found it strange that a fusty old company that had been around since forever, catering to East Coast bluebloods, was suddenly a big hit with the kiddies. Turns out that A&F decided to "re-brand" their image in the early 90s.
If the parents find a problem with their kids wearing it, return it! Otherwise, quit (griping).
The line that I think best combined grossness and humor is one I saw on a bumper sticker years ago in L.A -- "I'm having a party in my pants. Wanna come?"
I actually saw a story about this yesterday on some cable news station. It showed a group of about 5-6 girls making posters for a boycott march.
My though was: "Where do they find such people?"
I always find it amazing that whenever a reporter wants to spin a story, they can always find a person or group that backs up that reporter's opinion.
Tagline changed thanks to that site.
My tagline came from there as well.
Have you seen the teenage girl t-shirt showing a picture of a cob of corn with the statement 'Get shucked'?
How bout a t-shirt that says
"I'm a moron easily swayed by stupid marketing ploys"
Oh, I see. Picketting does take time and effort, as opposed to boycotting, which takes none.
We men should be gratefull to A&F. Let the stupid little girls show off who will be a good girlfriend and NOT be a good wife or mother.
Whatever.
"I'm a moron easily swayed by stupid marketing ploys" :}
...so much talking...
Depends on the kids and parents.
I had shirts my parents wouldn't buy for me, as a rule, I made sure not to wear them around them.
Marketed to young teens? Please, this is getting old. If parents of teens allow their kids to wear this....that's their own fault. If young ADULT women wish to wear this, it's their own business.
Most of those will also have a tramp stamp too.
