The CIA has been hiding and interrogating some of its most important al Qaeda captives at a Soviet-era compound in Eastern Europe, according to U.S. and foreign officials familiar with the arrangement.
The secret facility is part of a covert prison system set up by the CIA nearly four years ago that at various times has included sites in eight countries, including Thailand, Afghanistan and several democracies in Eastern Europe, as well as a small center at the Guantanamo Bay prison in Cuba, according to current and former intelligence officials and diplomats from three continents.

I think you've missed my point. I know the Dems will demand in investigation into the CIA prisons. I doubt that they will want to investigate the source of the leak, as they did in Plamegate. I was amazed. For a short moment in time, the CIA was the darling of the liberals. Now, it's back to its more familiar role of being the devil to the liberals.

Well, I think we are dealing with a group of people that don't care about anything including lives. If the CIA has a way to take care of them I applaud them.

This really pi$$es me off! Our soldiers in Abu Ghraib were given prison time for doing so much less. I would like to know why there is such inequality in practice. I don't see any inequality. A band of rogue soldiers committed their unauthorized "torture" (read hazing) of common Iraqi and other low value prisoners. Gitmo is for the bigger, high value prisoners, and then there are the small number of top AQ folks who get special treatment from the CIA. There is nothing wrong in a policy of differentiation when it comes to treating those captured in the WOT.

Just offer them a waiver. "I understand that I have the right to be shot for fighting without wearing a uniform. Rather than being shot, I waive any alleged rights of the Geneva Code."

These leaks appear to be from former employees who don't like the direction the CIA has taken in the last four years.

Dude you are talking to a wall trying to make a point to people here. Don't you understand by now that a large majority of people on this site see nothing wrong with torturing and denying people basic human rights to people as long as they aren't American and it's is the best interest of the country, of course if other countries do it we call it human right violations.
But hey we are the most powerful country in the world so who is going to say or do anything. Of course if 100 years from now we aren't the most powerful our grandchildren will have to pay the price. Hey as long as it isn't me.
I know I'll called all kinds of names, but I do believe reaping what you sow.

Guess they're not secret anymore, now are they?

Thanks. I am glad someone here agrees with me. I don't want to see our country and its leaders charged with war crimes.
This is America, we are better than that.

Just offer them a waiver. "I understand that I have the right to be shot for fighting without wearing a uniform. Rather than being shot, I waive any alleged rights of the Geneva Code." The Geneva conventions apply to everyone in the theater of war - and you can't waive those rights.

I assume this is the same CIA project that the NYT "outed" five months ago. Are the MSM reviving it now because they didn't get what they wanted from Fitz? And will there be shocked outrage in the MSM and a demand for an investigation into who in the CIA leaked this and jeopardized national security? Nah.
To: conserv13
Its not good. Its illegal and immoral. You kidding, right?
Perhaps you'd like to have them over to your place. Say, set up a little bed and terrorist place
Me, lock 'em up, far, far away and throw away the key

I have read several of your replies and believe that your alias is for fun.
1.) The Geneva Code does not apply to terrorists.
2.) The only reason to hold terrorists in foreign locations is because of ACLU, UN, Red (Red!) Cross and other leftists organizations.
3.) There is no law that prohibits us from shooting the bastards on the spot, now, later or anytime.
4.) The bastards have no rights, no privileges, nothing except luck of one more moment on earth (which is longer than I would grant them).

You are wrong in your points. Read the Geneva Convention.

Now, just for kicks, what if Valerie Plame was involved in setting up this secret prison, would that be a good thing or a bad thing? Hmmmmm?

Secret? What a joke. Every time they have taken down an al qaeda big they have publicly announced that he was being held in a secret location. I'm talking about the real bigs not all the "Lt.'s" ... Has nobody noticed this? Of course the location is secret - we're at war.
This story is about as transparent as the bologna the Dem's pulled with the secret session. The timing of both was probably planned in advanced to coincide with Fitzmas so as to create the appearance of an administration crumbling under the weight of corruption and scandal.
And to think people actually pay money to receive this crap through their cable or newspaper. What a complete waste.
