Watching the Democrat Senators on C-Span whining about not being able to hang Bush for going to war against Saddam Hussein and his murderous Islamofascist regime.

The only thing I can conclude is:

Nope. The arcane rules only provide for a Motion (Reid) and a Second (Durbin). The matter is not put to any vote.

It appears that under the rules any topics discussed in the secret meetings remain secret UNLESS THERE IS A VOTE THAT THAT TOPICS ARE NOT TO BE KEPT SECRET. So, have a vote, and then publish the minutes of the secret meeting for all to see.

No - it's an obscure rule that has not been used in 25 years. Any Senator can move for a closed session, and unless it is objected to before it is seconded, the Senate automatically goes into closed session. Probably no Republicans on the floor at the time knew the rule and knew to object, and Durbin quickly seconded the motion.

Karl Rove is still in the White House, the President is already changing the subject to the bird flu, and in six weeks Iraq will have a new democratically-elected government. Gas prices are heading back down to below $2.00 by the end of the year.
