Statement of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton Clinton on the Nomination of Samuel Alito
Hillary Clinton ^ | 11/1/05

Posted on 11/01/2005 8:11:58 AM PST by areafiftyone

The President’s selection of Third Circuit Court Judge Samuel Alito to replace retiring Supreme Court Associate Justice Sandra Day O’Connor must initiate a thoughtful and deliberate process of closely examining and scrutinizing Judge Alito’s record to determine whether he merits a seat on the highest court in the nation. What we currently know about Judge Alito raises serious questions about whether he will be steadfast in protecting our most fundamental rights. I intend to closely examine Judge Alito’s record and qualifications and carefully monitor the Judiciary Committee hearings in order to determine whether he intends to be a guardian of the rule of law who puts fairness and justice before ideology.

I hope that both the President and Judge Alito will be forthcoming during this process so that my colleagues and I can fully discharge our constitutional mandate of providing the President with meaningful 'advice and consent' on his nomination."

Hillary is concerned the he will be a "guardian of the rule of law." We are concerned that she can't be a guardian of something as simple as billing records in her former law firm.

Oh, they'll be forthcoming, Hillary, don't you worry your little head about it. And, if they 'don't recall' answers to some of the questions, I just know you'll understand.

TRANSLATION: It doesn't matter who he is, Chuckie and I voted against roberts and we'll vote against Alito.

No doubt. If Chuckie could not vote for Roberts, he is NOT going to vote for ANYONE that W nominates. He was on O'Reilly and talked a good game. It is a must read.

Schumer talks with O'Reilly about Roberts

This guy could find no fault with Roberts yet STILL voted "NO". Amazing.

Only ONE reason for a NO vote, it's a Republican President, not a Democrap one.

She asks if Judge Alito will be a guardian of the rule of law - puts fairness and justice before ideology - the LAW isn't about what is fair or ought to be - the LAW is how it is written period. Mrs. Clinton ought to be asked the same question as she is all about ideology and the THIRD WAY.....it just boggles the mind how stupid this woman thinks we are. Ms. Clinton has demonstrated many times what she thinks about law – the law rarely touches this empty pant suit that struts about impersonating a senator…………..when in fact she is in politics for the POWER.

Woops, I meant "hangs".

Considering the article was about Hillary, "hag" was an understandable, Freudian like slip.

Playing it safe Hillary? The Leftists are not going to be happy with this. THEY WANT WAR!

Pretending to play it safe. Advancing her newest persona as that of 'moderate'. Don't worry, lol, she's saving the war for later.

Perhaps we, the American people, "must initiate a thoughtful and deliberate process of closely examining and scrutinizing Judge Alito’s Sen. Clinton's record to determine whether he she merits a seat on the highest court in the nation in our nation's senate.

Such arrogance in her 'statement'. Could she pass the same test?

Her opponent is also Italian (at least by marriage).

You care to explain that one?

She's starting to sound more like that new TV series every day. Guess she thinks if the shows ratings are good because the character is "thoughtful", it'll work for her. Two fiction shows in the making!!

Unsubstantive.

Fundamental right to what Hillary? Come on, tell the American people what you mean. ;-)

Seems Hillary wants to separate herself from the race baiting Chuckie Schumer. As well as avoid the "mob" connections the DNC is alledging. She's still voting no, we all are aware of it.

"...a thoughtful hearing". I thought the Senate was going to consider his credentials. The two aren'r really very compatible.
