The Prince of Wales will try to persuade George W Bush and Americans of the merits of Islam this week because he thinks the United States has been too intolerant of the religion since September 11.
The Prince, who leaves on Tuesday for an eight-day tour of the US, has voiced private concerns over America's "confrontational" approach to Muslim countries and its failure to appreciate Islam's strengths.
The Prince raised his concerns when he met senior Muslims in London in November 2001. The gathering took place just two months after the attacks on New York and Washington. "I find the language and rhetoric coming from America too confrontational," the Prince said, according to one leader at the meeting.
It is understood that Prince Charles did not - and does not - believe that the actions of 19 hijackers should tarnish the reputation of hundreds of millions of law-abiding Muslims around the world.
Khalid Mahmood, the Labour MP for Birmingham Perry Bar, was also at the meeting at St James's Palace. "His criticism of America was a general one of the Americans not having the appreciation we have for Islam and its culture," he said.
Mr Mahmood and other Muslims present stressed that Prince Charles did not go so far as to criticise the US-led invasion of Afghanistan in October 2001. More recently, he has been careful not to express his views on Iraq.
The Prince also spoke of his sympathy for America after the terrorist attacks that claimed the lives of almost 3,000 people. He said he wanted to promote better relations between the different religions of the world.

Right. Bush already called Islam the 'religion of peace'. The Prince wants him to say more? How much further can Bush go? Should Bush say that Islam is superior? What else is left for Bush to say on behalf of Islam?
His approach appears to be the result of Inbreeding or the final stages of General Paresis (Neurosyphilis).
Let this Feckless Frat Boy stay in the U.K. and deal with the Muslims who intend to take over the country
"There will always be an England" -- not. Sad.
Glad to hear your remarks, Ivan! I've always tried to keep an open mind about the Prince, thinking he got the short end of the media hype stick. But this just about tears it.
Does the Royal Family have a public email? I'd like to give them a link to the Savage Nation. No single web page I know of does a better job of showing what a great people Islam is:

FRegards....
Ivan, this eccentric relative may wind up as King of England one day. Does this not worry you? When I was in my early twenties I visited England and I loved it! But in those days it was what I call "Agatha Christie's" England. A few years ago my husband's daughter visited England also expecting an "Agatha Christie's" England and she told me "I thought the plane flew into the wrong country". What is going on in England?
Can he be shipped off to be Bermuda's governor too?
I don't think he will be the next King - his position as a remarried divorcee, and his age, means it's more likely to be William who will be the next King.
I take it your daughter flew into London. I left London because it's turning into a teeming cesspool. Here on the South Coast, life goes on.
Best Regards, Ivan
I was thinking St. Helena.
Regards, Ivan
Thank you! Scary thinking how rich and influential this man will be one day. Will he knight Michael Moore, I wonder? We need to help this guy out!
Lecturing the President of the US on Islam is a BAD FIRST MOVE, Charles! Take a lesson from your mother.
I think we have found our modern day Neville, folks.
Have I ever told you that I am SO glad you stuck around here, Ivan? : )
I enjoy your posts.
NO!
I don't think he'd knight Michael Moore, but he'd definitely be a sub-par King. We merely need to be patient - the public is not thrilled with the idea of him as King, and as such, he will be passed over for William.
Regards, Ivan
WHAT!!!? LOL. That's a joke right?
If that is true...I truly sorry for the British.
I find this outrageous considering the fact that when Diana was alive, she was dating a Saudi and I seem to remember some talk that they were considering getting married. Does anyone know what that would have meant for Diana's sons?! They would have immediately come under the auspices of SAUDI/Islamic rule, Dodi Fayed would have been able to play some VERY strong cards on the Royal Family of England.
and now Prince Charles wants to come to America and tell US that we need to be more "considerate" of Islamic feelings? Apparently he isnt aware that a majority of Americans are already pissed off that President Bush is still calling it a "religion of peace"!!!!
I wish this poor man would just stay at home and putter around in his royal gardens. I think he relates more to plants than he does to people.
God bless the English people and God save the Queen, but they can keep Charles. One of these days, they're gonna have to explain to the rest of the world why Islamic sharia trumps British law and history.
Personally, (as if it hasnt been yet!) I think we have found our modern day Neville Chamberlain.
I even wanted to hold off from making pig jokes about Prince Charles. Now I AX myself: why?
No wonder (and a good thing that) Charles is unlikely to be King.
