I think the IDF/AF practices long range low level nuke capable F-16 missions, as their last option. They have also practiced launching missiles from subs, I do believe.

I would hazard a guess that maybe 1 or 2% of America would recognize "matches Biblical prophecy exactly" before it actually came to pass. That's sad.

Hi, Americans
I am novice here. Let's me try to discuss with you from position nativeRussian! I've found replies "emiller"; "Mr. Mojo"; most interesting.
You don't need invent something!
Iran want to aggravate situation! Iran want to provoke a confrontation! After that, they can prohibit any inspections!
What can be after?
Israel and the others (except the Muslim's world) will condemn.. but who can do something really?
Israel? It is ridiculous.
USA? Having not finished entertainments in Afghanistan, Iraq, to begin new enterprise in Iran? Having more than 50bln dollars imbalance every month?
Look at CIA World Fact Book; compare Iran, Israel, and someone else;(include Russia of course)
Iranian president understand completely, that theocratic regime has no perspectives.
Iranian people hate his Islamite order..
Nobody can conquer Iran, but Iran can be blasted from within plainly!
Last chance of Iranian president to aggravate situation, join nation and people in fron of enemy, a struggle for justice, a struggle for death; otherwise, Islamite regime will fall down!

No one is talking about an expensive and bloody occupation; the Iranian Islamist regime and their nuclear capabilities can be destroyed (or at least severely weakened) purely using air power, and both Israel and the U.S. obviously have the the capability to accomplish that mission (although most likely Israel will stay out of it). Once Ahmadinejad's regime is weakened sufficiently the Iranian people/resistance can take it from there and complete the job.

Welcome to FR.

The inference is that Gog is virtually dragged into this. Hence the "hook in the jaw" used to take an animal where it would not go willingly.

Dragged into this by whom? What nation on earth would have the power to drag an unwilling Russia into a conflict where it's practically a sure thing that every one of their major cities would be annihilated? Hard to fathom that scenario.

Yep. That's one of the proofs of divine authorship of Scripture (among a few others). At the time Zechariah uttered this prophacy over 2500 years ago, Jerusalem lay in ruins and was surrounded by wilderness. Zerebubbel having led the people back to the city, after being in exile in Persia, a mere 100 years prior to Zechariah.

I think that everybody understands absolutely well, today, that the next world war can erupt overnight right out of Jerusalem. The eyes of the World are upon Jerusalem. It is one of the most vexting and volatile problems that the U.N. wrestles with today. Israel possesss about 1/6 of 1% of the land area which the Arabs possess. Arabs have oil, wealth, and worldwide influence which such seemingly inexhaustible resources command. Not only is Israel's postage stamp piece of land scarcely discernabl on a world map, but it utterly lacks the essentials to make it the center of worldwide concern.

Think about it: a global war has been prophecied being fought over a tiny city having absolutely no strategic or even tactical importance whatsoever. Neither does this city command any commercial importance in anybody's eyes, and so can not be considered some extremely valuable prize to fight over.

And yet, only the extremely obtuse, or dim sighted, would deny today Jerusalem being a hair trigger for carnage the likes the world's never seen before. As recently as 1948, Zechariah's prophecy was considered utter madness, even after Israel's rebirth. And yet today, 6 billion people, keep a wary and fearfull eye upon Jerusalem.

Please, look at the map of the Middle East. Iran has the best position to control the Persian Gulf and any state of the Middle East. I remember the times of Iranian shah when Iran was almost western country: American movies, cars, cigarettes, alcoholic drinks, fashion - miniskirt and so on.. Iran got newest American aircrafts simultaneously with American army! Who began to build nuclear power station in Iran? – The USA! Who continued that construction a few years after falling of the shah regime? – West Germany with kind permission of the USA. Who continues that construction when West Germany refused to build? – Russian Federation (after collapse of the USSR) because Russia wanted to make money ONLY and give a job for Russian dying industry. Moreover, Iranian government made business proposition for Russia – to build FIVE nuclear power stations. It can be huge money…
Nothing bombardment can change geographical location of Iran!
Gloomy regime of Iranian Ayatollahs must be blasted from within. Mighty student's demonstration in Tehran (a few months ago) showed – it may be.
Yesterday I saw short reporting of Russian TV from Tehran about demonstration in support of Ahmadinejad and against Israel together with USA. It was demonstration of some quite old men (about 40 years old and more). I did not see even one young face! As far as I know, Iranian young people would live like in the early seventies. They are supporters of progress. Any bombardment can make them as opponents. Rash statement of Iranian president is rude attempt on the way to retain unpopular Ayatollahs regime at any price...

Wrong. The majority of the Iranian people who are in opposition to their currrent Islamist regime would welcome any American military effort to help them take out that regime. I've been hearing seemingly forever about how the young people of Iran are "on the verge" of commencing a revolution the exact opposite in character as the Islamist one in '79, but we can only wait so long. ....especially when nukes are in the balance.

"Iranian government made business proposition for Russia – to build FIVE nuclear power stations. It can be huge money…"

Huge money for whom, the Russians? Frankly I couldn't care less about Russians making money, especailly if the end result is a nuclear Iran. If you mean huge money for Iranians, that's also BS -- any nation as oil rich as they are certainly doesn't need nuclear power. Understand this -- if those nutballs ever come close to building nukes they will be destroyed, and the Russian engineers/workers would be advised to get hell out of there ASAP.

Thankfully Ahmadinejad and his gang of terrorists are probably at least a couple years away from being nuclear capable, so it gives the Iranian opposition a bit more time to take care of business. ....but the better get on the ball.

"but we can only wait so long"

It is too passive.. I suppose the revolution in Iran can be soon.

"Huge money for whom, the Russians?"

I suppose it is well known that epidemic of corruption is the main disease in Russia. Now it is clearly that every communist (they all are in control since 1917 up to nowadays) WAS and IS first of all THIEF!

Thank you for interesting discussion.
