Libby indicted on obstruction of justice, false statment and perjury charge...
And this kind of behavior will continue as long as our side refuses to stand up for themselves (and us)!
I saw that and got the impression he was a bit nervous, un-nerved. Did you?
Didn't someone else at that hearing do the same thing though?
That depends. If the cop knows that you don't or can't pick up chicks, probably not (see, e.g. "runaway bride").
Are you really going to jail?
If you are on a network, backup files, email them, or something else, you still may have copies laying around you don't know about. However, just because you erase and then format the drive doesn't mean anything. It is like tearing the cover and title page off a book. The book with all its stuff is still there.
Lying under oath to a federal judge - a crime U.S. District Court Judge Susan Webber Wright determined that President Clinton committed in the Paula Jones sexual harasssment case. Legal resolution: No criminal indictment.
Lying under oath to a federal grand jury - as Independent Counsel Ken Starr found President Clinton had done in the Monica Lewinsky investigation. Legal resolution: No criminal indictment.
Lying under oath both to Congress and to federal investigators - as Independent Counsel Robert Ray concluded that Mrs. Clinton had done in the Travel Office probe. Legal resolution: No indictment
Hiding evidence from Starr's Whitewater investigation - as the Senate Banking Committee concluded Mrs. Clinton did in the case of her missing Rose Law firm billing records. Legal resolution: No criminal referral, no indictments.

Good summary!
That would be about as stupid a political move as it is possible to make.
I don't mean today - publically. I meant to start setting it up in private, or planning it for the future.
Sounds like it wasn't done right if documents were later recoverd.

VP Cheney is a good man, and Id hate to see him go. However, if he chooses to do so, Id love to see Dr. Rice named to the position. As for the presidency, if it is something that Dr. Rice wants, Im there. However, we need to respect her wishes. Football Commissioner? Howd she ever come up with that? |
Rush Limbaugh just said today: "Clinton got off..The questions is HOW MANY TIMES A DAY." HAHAHAHAHA!
If that happened in this day and age, I'd think I was in the middle of a novel.
Yes. That could be a crime. This is similar to what happened with the "Runaway Bride".
You made a police officer come to investigate you. You misled him. By doing so, you may have let the real person get away with the crime.
Probably "making false statements".
Anyway, I'm still reading the indictment. This is NOT a "Earle" indictment, it has real statements of "fact" and real statements of what LIBBY did that violated the law.
The accuracy of the facts will of course be what a trial is about, but if the facts are as laid out in this indictment, Libby did commit crimes related to the investigation.
In fact,if this indictment's factual statements are all true, it appears Libby could have been charged with leaking classified information.
"This is indeed what the Left is praying for -- just take a little trip over to Democratic Underground -- They are foaming at the mouth with hatred for Bush and the GOP."
And Ted Kennedy just said this is the darkest day since Watergate... what a bastard to say that today.

Just read the indictment. I guess he was not indicted for the leak because Plame must not have been on foreign assignment in the last five years or so. (Whatever that requirement is).
The indictment sure does not make Libby look good. (As if most indictments DO!) ;)
"Many may question the proportionality here..No crime was found originally committed and this has taken 2 years"...
The crimes were committed during the investigation..The prosecutor made the point that IF such a crime were committed..truth is very important to investigators.
Fred Graham on CTV..He lacks the breathless reporting style, political overtones and was a nice change.
Read it again.
