It is tough to not sound like a cat trying to lose a hairball when you picture Reno's Kisser.

Lewis "Ham Sandwich" Libby....indeed

I think whenever we order ham sandwiches from now on, we should just ask for a "Scooter Sandwich"

How about waiting to hear the other side?

I haven't judged anything. I have read the indictment. What Libby said is what he said - I don't think there will be an 'other side' to that. So the 'other side' will be that there isn't overwhelming proof that he already knew about Plame before he talked to his purported sources for the information. If there isn't, and Fitz put all that stuff in the indictment, then I may have to start agreeing with you about him. But, by my count, looks like Fitz has about 7 or 8 witnesses - 3 reporters and the rest gov't officials - who will say or have said that Scooter's tale ain't the way it went down. I'm not sure what I think would be more reckless - Scooter saying what he said in the GJ if these witnesses are accurately described, or Fitz making these charges if they are not.

I know I am a sucker, and every time I see him trying to get around with that cast and the crutches, and he looks so mobility (is that a word) challenged it makes me think "oh the poor guy". I broke a toe last year and went through 4 Airports like that albeit without the crutches, and everyone except in Kennedy Airport was very sympathetic. At Kennedy they almost knocked me down.

Isn't the problem for Libby that he did not tell the grand jury that Cheney told him about Plame, and there were many witnesses that he was told? And apparently, all he had to do was go to the grand jury to clear it up before its term expires, after being "reminded," and no crime. That is what Rove apparently did. And that is why I would guess that Fitzgerald waited until the grand jury's term expired before filing against Libby, so Libby would not have a chance to expunge the crime. Libby's lawyer screwed up.

So under cross examination will Wilson tell us who authorized his wife to authorize him to go to Niger?

These libs are so excited about indictments and threats of law suits without considering discovery, and a trial where both sides are heard. They only think of the PR the word "indictment" give them.

Where did I hear it was Armitage who was Novak's source?

He is going over the top with five counts but I cannot believe the people on here defending him for (alleged) lying to the FBI and GJ.

I can understand the instinctive reaction, though. Wait for people to calm down a little. Breaking news does things to people.

I was wracking my brain to figure out why he would tell such an obvious and checkable (see notes) lie.

It would be rational if he were trying to keep the GJ from calling Cheney. If he'd said right off, "Cheney told me", then the veep would have been before the committee. Now, Libby gets all the heat.

I can't say it was a bad strategy, given the dog and pony show it's become.

I thought I read/heard that Novak said when his source is known, we will all have a laugh. Could he have heard it from Wilson (that would make me laugh) and then confirmed it with Ari?

I still say that he has no intention of taking this to trial. The worst possible scenario from his point of view is that Libby doesn't take the plea bargain. Discovery, etc. will be a mess.

I think that's why Fitz is holding Rove at arm's length and I think the offer will be a real slap on the wrist. Something Bergerian.

He waits until the last hour of the last day to file five process charges with no underlying crime.

PKM, this is also why people are reacting. Fitz was running this like he was getting Earle-style indictments.

That's what they are. Perjury traps.

This ought to teach presidents to stop turning this stuff over to these run-amok special prosecutors.
