Per Fox News...
Well, let this be a lesson to every president: enough with these lame-ass special prosecutors!
Look, if Libby was lying to the investigators, he should have his hand smacked for that alone. Nonetheless, from listening to what Fitzgerald was saying, there are several logic gaps. Maybe things will match up when the case is made, but at this time there are several instances where he is arguing that "if A notequal B; notA = B".
Further, aside from the possible lying by Libby, Wilson was attempting to misuse the law protecting CIA agents identities as a shield against uncovering his lies. It is a total and complete abuse of the law to even denounce someone as violating it for defending themselves against false accusations, and frankly, I question Fitzgerald's ethics for not making that clear.
The reason why Fitz indicted Libby is to get Libby to plea bargain and squeal on the others so he (Fitz) can then bring down more indictments.
.
The indictment
looks strong on its face, and the offenses alleged are serious ones. However, Libby is innocent until Fitzgerald proves otherwise, and we've yet to hear Libby's side of the story.
The impression one gets from reading the indictment is that there was massive cooperation on the part of administration employees and officials. This looks like the anti-Watergate -- a president ordering everyone to cooperate and the absence of any organized cover-up.
Unless Karl Rove is indicted later on, the political fall-out is likely to be almost non-existent.

Absolutely! THE dream team.
He's on TV because he attacks Republicans and social conservatives AND because they (TV Producers) can label him as a Republican.
For years he was introduced on PBS as a "Regean Conservative". Of course, he always rolled over for the Democrats.
His nickname is "Melonhead".
Frankly, I don't have a problem with that.
He praised Scooter Libby and then reminded everybody that Libby is innocent until he's had his due process and a fair trial.
Then he concluded by saying he and his administration have the people's work to tend to.
I had FoxNews on a total of 15 mintues to catch the Pres. After the Pres spoke the Fox pundit who's talking to Shep spoke about how Libby, if convicted could face up to 30 years.
Pretty broad leap, wouldn't you say. Anyway, FoxNews is OFF again, which is it's typical status around our house anymore except for Brit.
I thought the President did what he had to do and he didn't stick around for questions.
We thank you for your support!
I was totally exhausted at the end of that press conference and thought if I were in Scooter Libby's shoes I'd probably jump overboard, it's all over. He was nailed to the wall. Hope he gets a fair trial after all this!
"EXCEPT, if this is an ongoing investigation, should he be talking at all? The indictment should be "last word"."
Could this be considered tainting the jury pool?
Alleged is correct term. Now is the time to fight back -- that doesn't negate the fact I think Libby has not acted in the best interest of the WH or his boss, VP Cheney. I am less than impressed with Libby to be truthful or anyone else from the WH that has EVER leaked to the NY Times -- not smart IMHO.
And yet Shepard Smith said that the next phase of the investigation would be about whether or not the "administration" "twisted" evidence to go to war with Iraq.
You're right. In the public's eyes, this is BORING. No sex. MSM are loving it.
Thanks! Gray haired hottie. He has a charm about him that sort of intrigued me.
" The indictment "
Do you think Lawrence O'Donnell is lurking outside the courthouse waiting for the other 21 people to be indicted ?
You cannot purge a hard drive. I learned that from the forensics shows on Court TV.
Don't tell me you (Fitz) made a decision when there were "logic gaps". There should be none. That's HOW you reach a conclusion. Anything less is guessing.
