That's exactly my problem and some FReepers are simply refusing to acknowlege that's what happened. Not those who made their decisions AFTER the hearings began and facts came out, those who started the bashfest the day she was nominated, are claiming victory right now and predicting the complete death of the Bush administration for the next three years.
Sorry, but real conservatives wouldn't be celebrating. Lazz and Petronski had objections, but their posts aren't amounting to a savage victory dance (just using you guys as contrast, sorry).
NO real conservative denies someone the right to due process. This was agenda politics at it's worst by those who hate the president with a passion and live to get him out of office.
I agree on both counts. Maybe the day will come when they'll have an epiphany and realize what they've done. But by then, the damage has already been done and they'll have to live with it. She deserved her hearing.

I am a technical person, missed being a 'blue collar' person but not much, and yet, somehoe I became an "elitist, a whiner and a bitcher," I saw those labels quite a bit at the beginning... BUT, no big deal, this is indeed an EMOTIONAL issue... and we are all human beings after all... and we are NOT divided! we have never been!

I always celebrate when "America Dodges a Bullet." And I am a real conservative . . . a pro-life Reagan conservative.
I have no interest in seeing this woman destroyed. (I haven't engaged in personal attacks on her, and I've criticized the bizarre vitriol oozing from both sides during this sorry episode.) But she does not belong on the Court and should not be acceptable to conservatives.
