Bryan Brown, assigned as combat cargo assistant aboard the amphibious transport dock USS Cleveland (LPD 7), assists with the offload of a seven-ton truck onto the pier in Karachi, Pakistan. The truck was provided by Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Three (NMCB-3), which is forward deployed to Bahrain, and will be used to assist earthquake victims in the northern part of Pakistan. Cleveland offloaded 280 tons of supplies to support the multinational relief effort, including 37 pieces of heavy machinery, food donated by France and tents, cots and blankets from Egypt. The United States is participating in a multi-national assistance and support effort led by the Pakistani Government to bring aid to the victims of the devastating earthquake that struck the region on October 8th, 2005. (The Red Arrow Brigade of the WI National Guard is comprised of four battalions: the 1st & 2nd 127th, and the 1st & 2nd 128th. My son is in the 2nd 128th; the article is about the 1st 128th, the first of the 4 battalions to be deployed.)
