Let's Go Sox!
I swear the basics of baseball are not taught anymore.
We got a catcher and 3rd baseman that didn't get to a popper and they both could have had it and then we have a guy that should have drawn a throw to third coming from first.
And these guys get paid big bucks.
Thanks all....
Stros out, 9th inning, say goodnight to the Asros, series over.
Good thing Garner didn't pitch hit for the mega-slumping Ensberg with a runner in scoring position on 2nd, since he's more valuable than Backe.
Vizcaino barely out. Dammit. That was probably the ball game right there.
Oh wait, I forgot ... the Stros reliever will probably walk in a run in the top of the 9th, so it would'nt have made a difference anyway
Or at least putting down her box of donuts.
The truth hurts, my friend.
I think they're probably too busy concentrating on being LOSERS.
PacBell Park is now SBC Park? These corporate names drive me crazy, plus many of them keep changing!
PacBell/SBC Park is probably the #1 ballpark hubby and I would love to see next... it looks beautiful on TV. We've been to Candlestick (can't remember its corporate name) and Oakland/McAfee Coliseum back in the early-to-mid 90s when we used to spend a fair amount of time in the Bay Area. Hubby actually used to work at Oakland Coliseum back in the 70s, although he grew up a SF Giants fan (Willy Mays!).
I remember last year Boston had a chance to increase their lead late in game four. They didn't and I was hopping mad about it. Turned it didn't matter but you always want to get that extra insurace run.
Wow I thought that the sox would lose to just win at home....but it's a business not a sport these days I spose...:o)
I'll have to check mlb.com Gameday and do some Evelyn Woodhead Sped Redding on the thread to catch up.
I still think the 1996 Bulls dropped two games in the finals as a favor to NBC.
What ever happened to being a gracious winner?
So in the 7th, tied 0-0 with 2 outs and nobody on, Garner pinch hits for his pitcher who has thrown a shutout with just 100 pitches, because he has to play to win now. Then in the 8th, down 0-1 with 2 on and just 1 out, he doesn't pinch hit for the horribly slumping Ensberg, because he needs him for defense?
Garner deserves all the criticism that he is going to get. It wasn't his bat that went cold, but the logical consistency in his managerial moves is lacking.
Yeah, now that I've watched several Astros games, I think I see what you mean about Garner...
Looks like big celebrations are gonna take place in Chicago tonight...
Doesn't bother me at all, no problem here.
Lidge is gonna have a long, hard, off season...
