Folks, lets be realistic here. Does it really matter if Libby or even Rove gets indicted? In the grand scheme of things, and taking their current roles into mind, they are small fish. The election ended close to a year ago. Rove was moved to a position that holds a title that indicates less authority than the Secretary of Commerce.
Then there is I. Scooter Libby. Did anyone honestly even know who the hell this guy was until Fitz and gang decided to question him? I recently asked a lady at work if she had ever heard of I. Scooter Libby. She replied, Gesundheit.
Ill be honest; I had no clue who the chief of staff was for the Vice President. When I heard the name Scooter, I actually pictured some pencil neck geek in bottle rim glasses. Today I finally saw a picture of the guy, I was shocked, he was actually an astute looking gent.
Word is that Libby was ole buddy, ole pal with Mr. Rich of Pardongate fame. Then dont let the door hit him on the way, I say. This may be a good chance for the Bush administration to rid the Executive Offices of a connection to Democrats.
With the Main Stream Media fools reaching a fevered pitch, I just thought it wise to put it all in some context. Rove is pretty much killing time these days. Any advice he has given lately has not gone over too well with many in the Republican base. The WH is taking a beating from its own lately.
We conservatives should not get sucked into this so hard. That is what folks like Chris Matthews want. I have come to realize that, short of an indictment of Bush, Republicans will still be one up on Democrats.
Let the Dems say, we got your political advisor. Republicans can reply with, Big deal, we got your President and a blue dress And for anyone worried about voter turn out after all of this. Keep in mind that Clinton got re-elected. Voters will turn out no matter what. Especially in todays partisan world.
In the end, Rove will still get any needed communication with GW through. Bet on it. And, if indicted, he will be free to mastermind some campaign strategies for the mid-terms.
Ole Fitz will go down as an over zealous prosecutor.
And as for I. Scooter Libby, who cares. Hell end up fading back into the unknown. Which is just where a person who goes by the name Scooter belongs.
Relax folks. Bush is not going anywhere.
If Libby is indicted and if he's convicted, I'd hate like hell for that to happen.
But if Libby goes down, he damn well better take Wilson with him.
Maybe somebody did "out" her but it was because Wilson lied in the beginning.
I heard that all week; what exactly IS the "continuing pattern of corruption" in the Bush White House?
Was there other stuff I missed?
We should do that, but we won't and that doesn't have the same weight as Libby's possible indictment has.
How can someone be indicted (if any) if they weren't the one who 'told' Robert Novak about Plame, considering that Novak is the only person who even mentioned Plame's name in print.
Agreed!
"Yeah Ditter, but think about it. IF they think they won something...they will spend their time on that...and not an agenda."
They have no agenda... but what I find most disturbing here is that nobody seems to care about finding and punishing the SOB who exposed a CIA agent. Our human intelligence capabilities are already in the basement and this type of thing (exposing an agent) would make a potential recruit think twice about working for us... and that can only hurt US. This is a clear case of politicians turning a national security issue into a political circus. That'll hurt us in the end too.
Was there other stuff I missed?---
I believe they are referring to the non-issue of frist's stock dealings and the trumped up charges against delay.
not to mention the "illegal" war that a majority of both houses of congress approved of.
(didn't say it made sense)
Your assuming that she was covert. All signs show that she was not. Seems she lost that status some time ago. ALSO...SHE OUTED HERSELF.
EVEN ANDREA MITCHELL (wife of Alan Greenspan and NBC reporter) told Chris Matthews on Hardball that it was well known in social DC circles what Plame did.....BECAUSE PLAME TOLD PEOPLE.
Maybe not to me, but it is of some importance to Libby or Rove respectively.
simple.....collectively, Bush's people are more like Nixon's than Reagans. The only diff is Bush has waaaay more "handlers" than Nixon needed. DU's don't want Iran/Contra, they want Watergate......and remember I used the word "potential", not prediction.
Are you the designated mouthpiece for DU at FR now?
I'd say simple is a good way to describe your post, as in simple minded.
And they are FOS.
piss off, ya loudmouth
The big lie and constant accusations by the Democrats and MSM. The Downing Street Memo, Gitmo, Silly Sheehan, Lying About the WMD, Tom DeLay, and now this, although I am sure I forgot some others along the way. The libs accuse the Republicans of something, pound it home until it becomes fact, and then cite the long list of accusations/fact as a continuing trend.
The is similar to their push polling stunts. They repeat ridiculous thing in the media for a couple of weeks, do a push poll to "gauge" public opinion, then cite the results as evidence of the truth of the matter.
It is so old as to be boring but it is what they do and they are sometimes successful with it. What else are they going to do, tell the truth? Yeah, like that's going to work!!
The simple fact that the CIA Director George Tenet, did not know of Joe Wilson's trip to Niger in advance is a major scandal in itself. Here we have an issue that could be the difference between war and peace, and the CIA Director was not told of this adventure???
This trip to Niger that was arranged by Valerie Plame was an orchestrated attempt to undermine the Foreign Policy of this President and our Constitution clearly gives the President of the United States the power to decide what our foreign policy will be. A rogue element within the CIA obviously ignored this Constitutional power granted to the POTUS when they sent a former Ambassador to Niger to get the results they wanted in order to undermine this Presidents foreign policy.
This is how I see this whole deal
bttt
If Rove and Libby are indicted for perjury and/or obstruction, they wont be allowed to use a Wilson defense. It will be outside the scope of the charges. Their only defense will be to explain why they said one thing when other evidence indicates they lied or spun the truth.
Aren't you glad you aren't a liberal so you don't have to regurgitate that tripe 24/7 about every single issue?
I couldn't live with myself.
That doesnt make sense in that the prosecutors were conducting final interviews with WH staff today about Rove and Libby's schedules. Also interviewing Wilson's neighbors to determine if they knew she worked at CIA. The one quoted said no. These are not good signs for our side.
