WFTV's chief meteorologist Tom Terry here in Orlando said "the hurricane was a CAT 3 and then add the forward speed to that, which made it a Cat 4 for the people south of the storm! This is why they got hit so hard."

Lake Placid is still getting storm weather. Should be improving very soon.

I am just North of Lake Placid and we had butt kicking winds of Hurricane Velocity, horizontal rain etc. Winds in Lake Placid were clocked in three digits. This storm was faster but was very similar to Jeanne and those winds were 115 MPH. My trees are a mess, and it ws worse in lake Placid. There were two tornados that touched down in Sylvan Shores and Lake Clay Dr area. Wwinds are still gusting to about 30 right now.
