Not so much a ghost story, but something interesting happened to me last week.
Saturday my wife and I were working in our garage, cleaning up and rearranging things. I can't remember what brought it up, but she handed me her cellphone and told me I needed to call my friend Gary who I hadn't spoken to in a while. I didn't have a current number for him, so I called his ex-wife to see if she had a number I could reach him at. Noone was home so I left a message. Got a call Monday morning telling me that Gary had died on Saturday. I reckon it was right about the time we were calling for him.
Seems we'd been pinged.

I had an experience back in the late 80's that I KNOW was real. I was driving home to Marble Falls, Tx after working in Lago Vista with my sister. Was going on Hwy 1431 and was just going over Cow Creek (west of Jonestown). The highway had been moved some time in the past to it's current place. You could see the old road in a fenced-in field over at the right (north) side of 1431. As I was going past, I noticed a aqua blue car from about the fifties that had hit an old oak tree. It was one of those cars that had the front end squooshed up in front to make a sort of a "V" (can you tel I am female? LOL) It still had smoke/steam coming out of the engine, but there was no one around. I slowed down to see if there was anything I could do, but decided that no one was there and had left already to get help. Went on home and told Hubby about it. Next morning, I glanced over and saw that the car had been removed. BUT there was no tracks in the are to show that any tow truck had been there ANYWHERE! Told my sister and our boss about it. They did not know what the heck I was talking about. Said I had hallucinated. LOLL We searched the newspaper and asked around but found nothing. I firmly believe that I saw an accident that had happened many years ago when the highway was at it's old spot and at the exact time that the accident happened.
Had one other thig that was sooo spooky happen to me. We had sold our home in Marble Falls and was going to move the the home place (ranch) there at Hye (between Johnson City and Stonewall) We rented a house in the mean time on the Pedernales River right on Hwy 281 across from the rodeo grounds. It was one of those 70's ski lodge type of houses with three different levels and facing the river. My dog, Chewy, was so attached to me I could not get out his site for very long. One night I had gone upstairs to the bedroom to do something and heard him downstairs looking for me. The upstairs hall to the two bedrooms had a full length window at the end of the short hall. I backed up to it to hide from him and softly called him to see if he could find me. After a couple of minutes, I got the most chilling sensation (still getting goose bumps thinking about it). I felt that if I turned around that there would be someone looking back at me through the window. It was about 20 feet or so up. I stayed there getting chilled and it was not winter. Kept getting colder. So I said to myself "self, why don't we go downstairs. Chewy will never find you" and I casually walked down. Well, casually until I got three steps down Then hauled "you-know'what" Told Hubby and of course, he poo-pooed it. I said that there must be "something" in the attic. After some time, the feelings passed and I went upstairs to check the rooms. Nothing and no creepy feelings. Next day, I made hubby go look in the attic and he found nothing. I never experienced those creepy feelings ever again.

Curleybill used to provide links to all of the previous ghost threads.
I have told about hearing the children who burned up in the fire and about the ghost kissing me on the side of the face the night we spent in the haunted hotel. I'll tell them again if they can't be found (i don't know how to do a link thingy sorry)

That's not so creepy! I get those feelings every time I open a bill!
Seriesly, this one time, I was typing, and all of a sudden I looked up and all my letters were capitalized. I looked down and someone had hit my caps lock. Now, I know it wasn't me, I never use the caps lock key, I only ever capitalize one letter at a time.
Creepy...

Does anyone watch the ghost hunters on the sci-fi channelDUDE! That is the dorkiest show on television... I watch it every Wednesday, LOL! Nothing concrete ever happens, although I was a bit impressed with the infrared signature soldier looking "ghost" they caught on camera this week. I am the king of sceptics, but I like this kind of trash sometimes. I like how these guys are into something that is probably over their heads, but they take themselves seriously and try their best. The American Way. I also like it when they pull pranks on each other, heh..

(Just because we are not perfect, does not mean we are not good.)
I live not too far away from the Union Cemetary in Easton, CT. If you were looking for an archetypical New England church scene, the corner of Routes 136 and 59 certainly fits the bill.
I pass by the cemetary at least twice daily. In the mornings, there is quite a bit of traffic by rural CT standards but I have been there at all hours...mostly at night. The cemetary is "closed" at dusk but there is an access road off of 136 kind of like a circular driveway and it makes a good place to stop in the dead of night if you're on a solo bike ride, you want to light up a smoke and look up at the stars. The place never spooked me...still doesn't... but I know plenty of people who will avoid it after dark.
The Union cemetary has a reputation....fog floating over the road, strange lights...so I assumed I might see SOMETHING eventually since I pass by and/or stop there daily. Maybe it is because I'm expecting to see something that I haven't seen anything dramatic...just subtle stuff.
I passed by late one night and saw bright lights streaming out of the graveyard onto the road...looked like headlights. Well, the Easton PD sometimes parks a cruiser among the headstones (There is a road-like trail) waiting for someone to go tearing past. Sure enough, there was a police car in there. Mystery solved. I spoke to an Easton PD cop sometime later and he said that they don't park in the cemetary...hmmmmmmmmm
On a bike ride a few months later, I saw a pillar of smoke/fog near the cemetary gates and as I rode by, I hit a pocket of air maybe 20 degrees colder than the surroundings.
I did hear of one car accident near where I passed through the cold pocket. Apparently a driver slammed on the brakes for fear of hitting "something" in the road. The front end of his pickup was damaged but whatever he hit was never found.
Supernatural? Who knows?
They tell me the cemetary is quite haunted by The "White Lady of Easton". You can see pictures here: http://www.tangledforest.com/tangledf/whiteladyx.html

Does anyone watch the ghost hunters on the sci-fi channel? I love that show, they visit a lot of historical places and all kinds of spooky stuff happens to them.I'll confess to this guilty pleasure: I watch every week. But I was really surprised to see, this past Wednesday, that they were filming in the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, because I've actually stayed there, and believe me, even in the daytime, it's a little unsettling.
Didn't see any ghosts there, though when my brother and I were both boys, we had a slightly disturbing encounter with a low-order poltergeist that flung the chain off a locked door and blew the door open. This also was in a small-town hotel in Arkansas.

I once made the mistake of checking out the occult with an Ouija board
The Ouija board started as a pleasant diversion, a fun little game; until the marker started to move on it's own. A "spirit" took control of the board, and soon we were receiving messages. The "spirit" started pleasant enough, but soon became malevolent. The hairs on the back of our neck would rise, and neighborhood dogs would go crazy. Soon it didn't need the board, just possessing people. It got to the point where we could tell it was coming by listening to the dogs bark and whine, first in the distance then next door. Visitors would feel the presence without any coaching. Soon we had no visitors, because - "something doesn't feel right". It became extremely bothersome and - a bit frightening.
It aint just a game. We moved from the place, burned the board and forgot about the occult.

Welllll, could be like when I was secretary for the local PD. One of our MARRIED officers was always getting caught by Chiefy (the police chief) parked in out of the way places and he wasn't doing any kind of PD work, if you know what I mean. Chiefy told me he saw nothing but a white butt in the air in the back of the patrol car one time. He ended up going to another town (the officer)

Happened to me once. Could not move a single part of my body, not even my lips. I shook off the fear and sense of dread that was all over me, then mumbled out the Lord's Prayer and fell unconcious. Woke up a few hours later just fine.

Strange. It happened to me several times in that house and I have never forgotten that dread that you describe.
