I was worrying that they were doing it again, especially with a "voice vote" again.

Yes, he explained his prior position by saying that the SP was spending $1 million a year and the damn thing was long over (true), but he never thought the report shouldn't be made public. That's not how I recall what they were up to, but we win this one anyway.

Briefly, some of what the SP has uncovered is the use of the IRS to intimidate and/or punish political enemies. The SP has been at this for 11 years so that would cover the Clinton years quite nicely, and it has been suggested that she very much wanted this squashed.
