Court issues warrant for DeLay, sets bail:
AP By William L. Watts
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- A Texas court on Wednesday issued an arrest warrant for former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas, and set his bail at $10,000 in a routine step before his first court appearance on conspiracy and state money laundering charges, the Associated Press reported. The issuance of the warrant is "a matter of routine and bond will be posted," DeLay attorney Dick DeGuerin told the A.P. The lawyer said DeLay would make his first court appearance Friday morning. DeLay, who remains a member of Congress, relinquished his leadership post last month after being indicted on a charge of conspiring to violate state campaign finance laws. DeLay contends the charges are politically motivated and that he will be vindicated at trial.

IIRC, the money-laundering charges would be a felony offense. It would be, but money-laundering entails laundering money gained from a illegal act such as drug dealing.

Sometimes a figure (person, character) goes through a personal trial but in the end they become more powerful. Figures such as Azlan (Narnia), Obi-Wan Kenobi (Star Wars) come to mind.
I don't think the Dems know what to do and they are grasping at straws. I've read the motion to quash at Powerline. The best the Dems can do is a mug shot and it will be used against them (if they do this to Tom DeLay, what will they do to you, Mr. and Mrs. Citizen of Texas?)

Isn't he just the booking judge and not the guy who is hearing the case. With a donation record like he has, he might try and get the case himself and turn this thing into a even bigger circus.

I would think you could get a change of venue or judge if that happens.. but who knows.. I don't know the politics out there.

they appear weak. when trouble comes a callin the rinos pee themselves and fold. the new tone jive at the WH has brought this upon all of us. i know the brain trusts inside the administration love the under the leaves approach . it's lame . these people will find out that some of us are sick of carrying the water. all the back slapping , fake honors , and program fundings are meaningless to the enemy. thus we appear weak.

What about the jury? 12 Texans believe there is enough for charges. One group of 12 that thought there was enough had a foreman who is on record saying he didn't care what the evidence was. Another group of 12 said there wasn't anything there. Then Earle rushed to different judge, a democrat, to put together a new group in majority democratic town, and then in less than a day they indited Delay. This whole thing stinks to high heaven.

Well whatever floats your boat.....
But now tell me what it is exactly that you are going to do to change this situation?.... be specific.
There are things we can control and things we can't. To endanger ones health because of something that you have no control over isn't wise, imo. Of course your opinion may very. In any case you have a good one.

Why haven't Delay's attorneys filed to have this sh*% indictment thrown out? Why have they let it get this far?

I agree. We are in a fight for the soul of this Nation.
We need pit bulls and in the Republicans we have lap dogs.
