Acronyms, initialisms and abbreviations that aren't generally used in the "civilian world."

What is an acronym? It is a word created from the first letter of a series of other words. It is spoken as one word.

Rate  Any of the ranks within the Navy or Coast Guard enlisted structure.

RATE  remote automatic telemetry equipment

RATEL  radio telephone

Rate of Fire  The number of rounds fired per weapon per minute

Rat F***ed  To be seriously torn apart or rifled through.  Originating in Vietnam when cases of C-Rations (Rats) would be gone through in the process of transporting them to the front.
 
Ratline  An organized effort for moving personnel and/or material by clandestine means across a denied area or border.
 
RATO  rocket assisted take off
On Aug. 12, 1941, the first Air Corps rocket-assist takeoff was made by a Wright Field test pilot, Capt. Homer Boushey, using a small civilian-type Ercoupe airplane. Subsequent refinements of this technique were made for assisting heavily-loaded airplanes in taking off from limited space. This technique is still used whenever needed.  More here!

How do you make leftover chicken? That is a trick that I need to learn, I think! LOL! I thought leftovers just sort of happened! :o)

I dunno what to have--depends on where we go. Maybe KFC--I need to get some biscuits for breakfast there anyway. My tummy is growling just talking about food!

I love biscuits and honey for breakfast. Fortunately KFC's are yummy so I don't have to break my record for how long I've gone without cooking! LOL!
