WASHINGTON, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- The Bush administration is reportedly considering incursions into Syria as it tries to stem the flow of arms and fighters for the Iraqi insurgency.
The New York Times says U.S. and Syrian forces have already been involved in skirmishes on the border, including one this summer that left several Syrians dead.

The country doesn't have the stomach or the money for a Syrian invasion. Bush should have immediately leveled Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, and Syria in rapid succession shortly after 9/11, instead of farting around with the U.N. and liberal moonbats in the media and Rat party.

Should Bush just ignore the powers granted to him under the Constitution?
Slowly but surely Bush is squeezing Assad on the battlefield and in halls of diplomacy.
Assad has got 2 more years max.
I didn't know that waiting around and asking for permission to fight a War on Terror from the U.N. and worrying about the opinions from France, Germany, and Russia was in the U.S. Constitution.
It must be right next to right to engage in sodomy or restrict political groups via Campaign Finance Reform.
I think a good way to attract Assad's attention would be to have several US planes "accidentally" go off-course and bomb the brown fecal matter out a Syrian military facility that is aiding the terrorists to cross the border into iraq.
"maybe an Iraqi army armed to the teeth with American air support"
Good idea, Coggins..
Two years.... More like the cold spell called the winter season over here in the Middle East. The key to peace in the Middle East is to remove opposition to Israel. First, Syria, then Iran, which in turn puts both France and Russia out of major trade/political ties - this is the answer. Iraq is just a stepping stone to getting the Arabs to accept Israel and quit walking down that path which leds to nuked cities in their end.
The President doesn't need permission from the UN. Congress can only declare war. The President can use the War Powers Act, but that would not happen in the scenario you have suggested.
I think Sharon's withdrawl from Gaza is part of this strategy as well.
It was reported in the news the other day.
Time to bomb Syria until Assad wets his bed.
NO JOKE. Not a single ground troop in, but bomb them to the other side of the earth!
to late he wet his bed a while ago...
You are 100% correct IMHO!!!
2001- Afghanistan
2003- Iraq
2005- Syria
2007- Iran
