NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Reuters) - A U.S. soldier opened fire on a group of fellow soldiers during a morning exercise session at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, on Thursday but no one was injured at the Army base.
The soldier, whose name was not released, "is in custody after firing shots at a physical training formation" but no one was wounded, Fort Campbell said in a statement.
It provided no other details but said the matter was under investigation.
The facility, on the Kentucky-Tennessee border about 60 miles northwest of Nashville, is home to the 101st Airborne Division that has served in Iraq.

who crashed a plain on an aircraft carrier injuring and/or killing many true herosIIRC, McLame's aircraft "discharged" a Zuni rocket into another aircraft while they were waitng for a catapault launch.
He somehow (daddy dearest calling in every favor an admiral can accrue, probably) remained on flight status after he almost totalled an aircraft carrier and then managed to get his sorry clymer shot down and captured.
I wish I could remmebr the name of the carrier.

A similar situation happened to my unit when I was at Ft.Bragg. I think it was 94-95..Somewhere around then. I used to do PT(physical training) on a road called Ardennes on Bragg in NC. One day this soldier opened fire on the PT formation right in front of mine. Some soldiers ran him down and tackled him. But not before a Major was killed and 1 other soldier. It's sad. I remember at the time people kept asking how he snuck rounds out of the Armory. I bet those same questions are gonna be asked again if it happened the same way.

"Poor shot. Did they let the DC sniper out?" What? The DC sniper was a great shot. It's a wonder any of us have any idea about what's really going on when you consider our media

Unfortunately the DC sniper was a pretty good shot. It's easy to be a good shot when you are prone, have a scope, and the distance is less than 100 yards.

You may want to be a bit more careful on what you accuse McShame of. His involvement in the Forrestal fire was that his parked Skyhawk happened to be in the path of an inadvertantly-fired Zuni rocket.

Speaking of Mohammeds, wasnt one of the Snipers a Mooselimb? Both of the Beltway Murderers were mahometans ... the local papers ran some images of Lee Malvo's doodlings during his trial: definitely a muzzie, and definitely boiling over with hatred of anything non-muzzie.

The DC sniper was a great shot.
Lilling most but not all unaware human targets from about 100 yards can be done by an untrained person who has never held a rifle before.
