From the local news:

10/8/05
Reunion for WWII Vets Who Stormed Omaha Beach

They stormed Omaha Beach on June, 6th 1944 but more than 60 years later their memories of that day still remain strong. There are only about 11 members of 146th Engineering Combat Battalion still alive. The WWII Veterans were part of the deadliest D-Day assault.

Saturday some of them were in Lubbock to remember how they all came together. The group of men have been meeting every year since 1991. They usually get together in Texas, Oklahoma, or Louisiana, since that is where most of them are from.

Glad to hear that some of our WWII Vets are still getting together to remember where they have been, and why. God bless them for what they did for our country.
